QUESTIONS

Have you ever been in a place that has revealed completely different from what you had imagined? If so, how? I always wanted to visit Barcelona, because of its quirky architecture and fantastic art scene. However, when I got there, I very quickly realised that Barcelona is one of my least favorite cities I’ve ever visited.

Have you ever had bad experiences during one of your journey? So many bad experiences, but what’s beautiful about a traveller’s life is that we quickly forget the bad and focus on the positives. Time has this great power of turning even the worse experiences into a fantastic adventure without which life would be just to monotonous.

Do you also have any funny story that you still remember? My husband and I decided to hike in Tenerife, on Mt. Teide. We got lost on our way back down to the bus stop. My Spanish is quite rusty, but I can get by.. To find our way, I spoke to a Spanish old lady who kept on repeating “church” in Spanish. Then, we got a lift from a complete stranger with no English skills and a very dodgy looking car. He dropped us off at the bus minutes before our last bus back to town. Well, scary and crazy as it may have been, it is one of our funniest and loved adventures.

What is your favourite place? Tokyo, Japan. We loved everything about this place. We loved how clean it was, how efficient the transportation, how well manners the locals were. We also loved how cheap the food was in many restaurants. We really absolutely loved Tokyo and we would love to move there one day.

Could you imagine your life without travelling? I get bored far too easily, so it would be quite bad on my husband if we would stop travelling. Hehe, so no, I can’t imagine my life without travelling.

And what do you do when you, for a reason or another, are not on a trip? I take my camera and go around taking pictures. I really enjoy doing that. My husband and I walk a lot, so even if we walk around our own neighbourhood, we spend hours walking and talking. I am the Creative Director of our digital studio, so if I’m not travelling, or working on my blog, I design the next best website or logo.

What is the most common mistake between the bloggers? Spending too much time writing and less time marketing. If you blog as a business, then you have to treat it as such, hence you need a business plan which includes a sound marketing strategy.

Why would you suggest to our readers to follow online your adventures? Because I make mistakes so they don’t have to! I don’t shy away from writing about experiences as they happen and I don’t sugar coat the truth. I want to offer real, useful advice to help others enjoy a travelling lifestyle.

What was your photo, article or post that had more success? The article about Where To Stay In Tokyo For Tourists And First Time Visitors got the most attention. People are clearly interested in Tokyo and I want to show them how Tokyo and Japan in general is amazing. Please see the best Tokyo picture which got the most love as well (www.youcouldtravel.com/travel-blog/Where-to-stay-in-Tokyo-for-tourists-and-first- time-visitors).

And instead, what is your favourite? The one you’ll not easily forget? I really love our honeymoon pictures from the Seychelles...

What would you suggest to all the aspiring travelers? If the world scares you, start small, but it is important that you start travelling. Maybe hike during the weekend, visit your distant relatives abroad or simply take a well deserved cheap holiday somewhere. The more you travel, the more you will learn and the easier will be to give up your comfort in exchange for more experiences.

What did the travel teach you? And what is the most important lesson that you can share? Travelling helped me understand the importance of experiencing as much as possible during this short life of ours. I understood the importance of staying curious and hungry for knowledge. Above all, travelling taught me to be patient, understanding and accepting. And I learned to love everyone equally, irrespective of colours, gender or belief.

Where would you like spend your life as retired? Tokyo, Japan, please.

If you win 10.000$, but you can’t spend them on travels, what would you do? I would invest them all in marketing our blog and digital studio. I am quite business oriented.
