As you all know, the culture of a country, region or city should also be savored. On this occasion we take you to New Delhi, a city full of colours, smells, tastes and essences, which will awaken your senses, so you will be able to taste the Indian culture.

The main ingredient of food in New Delhi is rice while curries are considered complementary but very important dishes too. If you are vegetarian, you will not have any problem here, since many of the dishes of Indian cuisine are based on vegetables, in fact, there is no important food that does not include them, they can be consumed in sauce (tari) or dried (sukhi) .
Good examples of this are delicacies such as sambosa (vegetable dumplings) or pilafrice (rice with vegetables).

Here we go to know more about some of the main dishes that you can find in New Delhi!

THE CURRY


Its flavor varies greatly depending on the area, it is a mixture of ingredients, known as masala or kari by the local people, it is the indispensable accompaniment for many types of meat. It is also the basis of delicious recipes, such as tandoori (meat marinated in yogurt and prepared in clay ovens or tandoors), koftas, biryanis or the famous kebab.

SEEK KABAH

It is a simple dish based on minced meat of lamb, curry and beaten egg.

CHEPATIS


They are a kind of unleavened wheat cakes.

DOSA


It is a kind of crêpe with spices. It is a low-fat snack and has a high carbohydrate and protein content.

BIRYANI


It is a dish whose main ingredient is rice (usually basmati), prepared with spices, meat, fish, eggs or vegetables. Today it has several variants, you can use different types of meat like beef, chicken, goat, lamb, fish or shrimp, along with various spices and condiments: ghee (Indian butter), peas, beans, cumin, cardamom, cinnamon, cilantro, mint leaves, bay leaves, ginger, onion and garlic.

ALOO GOBI


It is a dish of traditional North Indian cuisine, it is a real delight for those who wish to taste the tradition and the intense flavors of India. It is a dry dish which is prepared with potatoes, cauliflower and spices of the country, like the turmeric that gives the plate a yellowish color, and sometimes it is added to the plate leaves of coriander and kalonji or black wheat seeds. Aloo Gobi also has some variations: in some variants you can use garlic, ginger, onion, tomato, peas and cumin.

Now, the desserts!

JALEBI


Jalebi is a typical sweet from the Indian cuisine, Pakistan and Bangladesh. It is elaborated frying a mixture of a liquid dough and soaked in syrup and its form is like of several rings, sometimes they are similar to the pretzels. Its usual colour is orange although there are white versions. It can be served hot or cold. They have a softer texture than crisp.
It is prepared and consumed throughout the year, but especially during several festivities such as Indian Independence Day or Republic Day.

GULAB JAMUN


Gulab Jamun is a sweet typical of Indian and Pakistani cuisine, is made with a dough, whose main ingredients are milk powder and flour, once the dough is ready, small balls are formed to fry them for a few minutes. Once fried they are dipped in a syrup flavored with caramel, rose water, kewra, you can even add some honey, and as a final touch add some strands of saffron to give it its characteristic red colour.
