For any city a weekend is never enough to visit it, you arrive and you leave, only to savor a taste of a city that we might love as hate at first sight, even Naples is one of this, you hate it or you love it, there's no middle ways. Taking the flight on Friday evening, just out of the office or from the last lesson at the University, you'll spend more or less 48 hours in Naples, if you think that, almost certainly, the return flight will be on Sunday evening, and so you have to consider them enough.

What to see in Naples in a weekend? Soon said.

PLEBISCITO'S SQUARE

One of the largest squares in Italy, it was here that the city parties were celebrated, once it was very irregular, only later was resized, also because it was built the Royal Palace.

OVO'S CASTLE

The oldest castle of the city, which offers a spectacular view of the Gulf of Naples. Its name comes from a legend of the poet Virgil, who, it's said, have hidden inside an egg capable of keeping up all the fortress.

NEW CASTLE

Undoubtedly one of the city's landmarks, inside it is located the civic museum, where inside there are the Palatine Chapel and the one dedicated to the souls in Purgatory.

SAN GREGORIO ARMENIAN STREET

The street famous for its Nativity scenes, but even if you don't go into the Christmas season, we suggest you to go there anyway: it's rich of caratheristic stalls.

CATHEDRAL OF NAPLES

Beautiful Basilica dedicated to Maria Assunta, which overlaps different styles, here is hosted the rite of San Gennaro melting miracle. A short walk from here is the famous Spaccanapoli area, which divides the north from the south of the city.

ROYAL PALACE OF NAPLES

Built for the Bourbon family during the Two Sicilies Kingdom, already from the steps you can feel the grandeur of the whole building.

WHERE TO STAY IN NAPLES

Being a big city, Naples has many options to choose from, but we preferred to select 4 in the city and one a bit in suburbs, but we'll see why.

Near the station there is the Hostel Mancini, convenient for solo travelers, with dorms and private rooms. Free wifi. Moreover, it has been recently renovated.

In the city center, however there is the Hostel Bella Capri, very well connected for trips outside the city towards Pompeii, Positano and Amalfi.

Very simple, but always a guarantee of cleanliness there is YHA Hostel NAPLES, located in Mergellina district. The beds are made of wood, much more comfortable than metal!

A bit outside Naples, precisely in Positano, the Fabric Hostel & Club, originally a 800 building and with the goal to connect and to interact travelers from all over the world.

La Controra, a very special hostel converted from a monastery, but it is not any hostel , this is a luxury hostel! So if you want to be really comfortable, you may keep it as good as option.
