La Tomatina - Bunol Spain

Peak tomato season in a tiny village called Bunol can be a dangerous time to visit, especially if you are wearing white and you're allergic to tomatoes.

La Tomatina, along with it's tomato throwing, is a week long festival of music, food, drinking, and general partying in the little town of Bunol, just 30 miles from Valencia.

Since 1944, on the last Wednesday of August, Bunol becomes an all out tomato fight between 11am and 1pm, turing the streets, your clothes, your hair, to tomato mush. Anything that doesn't move, is bombarded by tomatoes. It could be a great chance to work of all of your frustrations with your traveling partner/s. There's nothing better than throwing tomatoes at their heads for all the times they complained!

Bunol is a tiny town, and it is advisable to book your accommodation in advance, especially during La Tomatina. Bunol also makes for a great day-trip from sunny Valencia. Valencia being the home of Paella, you may want to take a break from scoffing & laying on beaches, to get a bit of tomato throwing activity going on.
