It has recently been refurbished and the level of service, décor and standard of the rooms is excellent. I would have expected to pay a lot more. So for the price you get far more than you would expect. All the rooms have a good standard of air con, wooden floors, nice bathroom and the best thing is rooms have a PC and internet which is free. I don’t think there are many hotels in this price range that can match this. The hotel is perfectly situated about a 4 min walk from Hoan Kiem Lake and with all the comings and goings of the Hanoi streets on the doorstep. But inside its lovely and quiet. But for me, apart from the good price, the excellent quality of rooms, level of cleanliness and good security, are the staff. They made it my home from home and they fast became good friends. Its a little bit of heaven in a chaotic world and the old town has never changed. The streets and shops still retain the feeling from centuries gone by with some modern changes. You can take a cyclo, or walk or a motorbike. Sit by Hoan Kiem Lake and watch the world go by, sip a Vietnamese iced coffee and barter int he markets. After negotiating the traffic system and taking your life in your hands as you cross the road, you'll need a friendly place to stay. Can I recommend a fab little hotel in the heart of the old quarter called the Hanoi Elegance Hotel and Elegance is certainly an apt name. Its a superb little hotel with a romantic feel to it - all the rooms are spotlessly clean, kitted out with mod cons, excellent air con, lovely bathrooms, and a real bonus is the free ADSL internet and computers in all the rooms. Ask for the room at the top and you won't be disappointed, particularly with the city views. Apart from the 2 star feel and quality (and the price of the rooms isn't expensive), the thing that makes the hotel stand out even more is the fab staff who work there. They will make you feel part of the family, they are very special people who will soon become your good friends. It won't be long before this hotel becomes a firm favourite for travellers, tourists and business people alike - it offers so much to a range of people. You really should come and check this place out and see for yourself.
