At the entrance to Milan, near Abbiategrasso, lies Santa Maria di Morimondo Abbey, a Lombard historic monument of the 12th century. The Abbey has been set up by monks coming from France and arrived in the Milanese plain in 1134. Its history is intense from the origins and it interlaces with the contrasts between Guelphs and Ghibellines, Empire and Common, before with Federico Barbarossa, and then with Federico II. The Cistercian Monks consider architecture as strictly connected to the spirituality reflecting its strength and inner essentiality combined with simplicity. The Il Chiostro Hostel is placed in the ancient Foresteria of the Abbey, restored in 2000 keeping unaltered the charm of the century. Each of the 20 guestrooms is decorated in contemporary style, with a block primary color and period detailing, including wooden beams on the ceiling and wooden flooring, and is furnished with air conditioning, tv color with satellite channels with pay per view service.
