Facilities are simple and well maintained, with a cheery vibe from staff and travellers alike.' It's not 'backpacker basic' by any means (the dorms have TV), but it is more about being comfortable and welcoming, and giving travellers a chance to experience a side of Sydney that's far from the tourist brochures and PR spin - ie, a real beach suburb that's still mostly filled with locals. You can also get the key for the isolated Garie Beach YHA, and it's a great place to join others doing the 26km coastal walk in the Royal National Park or to get your surfing skills up to scratch. The hostel is wheelchair accessible.
