About the property
The concept of Green culture hostel came up some time ago, around 2004 when the two owners Naum and Pablo were backpacking through South America. During their journey, these friends noticed that there was a lack of environmental friendly hostels at the places they traveled trough. They also noticed that most hostels didn’t really know what backpacking really is about. The hostels only referred travelers to common tours and tourist attractions. Backpackers wants to get to know the real culture!

We have full equipped kitchen, living room, chill out rooftop, hammocks, bbq area and laundry service. We also arrange tours, parties and bbq for our guests.

Surroundings
The Property is located at FAVELA Chapéu Mangueira and Babilonia one of the first pacified favelas of Rio de Janeiro. The neighborhood has a lot of pubs, restaurants and supermarkets and is surrounded by an Environment Protection Area with awesome trekking trails and fantastic view. It only takes 5 min walking to Copacabana beach and is close to all the main tourist attractions.

If you looking for something different and to experience authentic Brazilian culture close to the beach and and all the main tourist attraction this will be the place.

Back in the days Favela Chapeu mangueira and Babilonia was controlled by street gangs, until it was taken over by the police pacification unit project called 'UPP' in 2009 which has restored peace to the community and enhanced tourism. Nowadays there is no safer place in Rio de Janeiro than this small community.

 

 

Terms and conditions

During NYE and Carnival: 100% prepayment is compulsory. The guest must contact the property to arrange payment. Failure to pay the remaining balance will result in cancellation. If the booking is cancelled 60 days before arrival - 50% of the prepayment will be refundable, after that the deposit is non-refundable.
