The staff was very friendly and the price cheap. Unfortunatelly, the room was too tiny for 6 people. The lower bunk bed without enough space just to sit on it. Hang out area with kitchen was dark - no daylight, entrance from the street next door. No cooker in the kitchen, just microwave.

Very good hostel location, nice and helpful service. For the most demanding equipment is sufficient. Unfortunately it is not very clean, even though the cleaning service is daily.

Although I had booked and paid for a 4 bed room with private bathroom, I was located to a 6 bed room with shared bathroom. After asking why this, staff reassured me that no more than 4 persons would have stayed in. I was also given a chance to move and stay in the right room (the one I had paid for), but being tired 'cause of the long trip and having to move my baggage to a different building, I accepted to stay in the wrong room, as long as no more than 4 persons would have stayed in for the length of my stay (2 nights). I was told more than once that we would have only be 4 people in that room over the weekend. So I accepted the new agreement. No need to say that the day after the room was full and we were 6 people in the room. The reason why I writing this is that this seems to be one of those cheep hotels that think that can move people around rooms according to the hotel needs. Also, this is not a hostel, rather a series of apartments in different buildings, all of them in the same block. Staff was very kind I have to say. There is a big problem: there's plenty of garbage bins right outside the building (rooms are at the ground floor) and it seems that garbage there amounts very quickly. At night, walking back to the hotel, there were many rats running around sidewalk, eating the garbage. Call the City Council and tell them to intervene, this is anti hygienic!!!

Stayed for 2 nights and it was normal, the best thing it's the location (close to Termini and city cenmtrum). The room with 6 beds it ok, it have bathroom and lockers. You don't get a key, only the reception opens the door. Be careful beacouse there are taxes not included in the reservation (but I belive that tax is for any hostel in Rome), the tax is 3 euros per night per guest. The Hostel is great for a couple of nights.

I have stayed in 5 bed shared room. I must say the room was way too small to host 5 beds, absolutely insufficient. Besides, the only window was extremely small. Lastly, the room is at the ground floor and as a consequence, I have been constantly woken up by all sorts of noise coming from the street at night, which is very often congested and bustling. The two only positive notes, which in Rome is a rarity among low budget hotels, is the high levels of cleanliness and the courtesy of staff. This is not a hostel, rather a series of rooms in different apartments.

When I go back to Rome, I would stay in hotel papavero again.

quite good localization, nice room, no space for preparing food (very small kitchen, where always you can find at least 4-5 person from stuff, so you never have enough space ;/) they don't give you a key to your room- they said that this is very safe place and you don't need a key... nice and quite safe neighborhood- 10 minutes to subway.

Hostel is close to Termini station, so you can get there really fast just after coming to Rome. If about 20 min walk is not a problem, except trip to the Vatican you don't even need to buy a ticket for bus or underground (but if you want, all necessary stops and stations are right there). This area isn't far from main tourist places, but is not as crowded. Around there is a lot of little, quite good and not expensive restaurants, and grocery store, what is really helpful.

Hostel doesn't have many attractions (or maybe I just skipped them somehow), but it's just a hostel, and in such city as Rome they would be just expendable ;) Especially for such money, I got exactly what I expected.

About staff.. Lady in reception was really nice and helpful, and of course she spoke English quite well.

If I had to tell what they can improve.. well.. maybe doors to the rooms are quite too loud, so you have to try hard to not wake up other people.

Really nice place to stay, very well located and clean. If you look for a fun party hotel/hostel it's not the place but if just to rest after your tour in the city it's amazing.

They should improve the internet system.

Pro: Very nice and cheap hostel, the rooms have much space, a desk, big lockers and clean bathrooms with dryers and bidees.

Contra: The "kitchen" has no dishes, cutlery and pots. The rooms have very much TOO FEW power outlets.

This is not a luxury hostel, is the perfect one to travel in Rome. Is very close to the main station and I did not feel any kind of fear. The staff are just perfect. They know to help you, they give you advices and they are very kind. The Wifi is only one euro per 24 hours. The problem is there is no wi fi inside of the room. The other problem is the bathroom. Small things can be better (some objects are a litle bit old). I would recomended A LOT this place. If you do not want to spend time in the room but a bed to sleep in a nice place and cheap, this is the place.

We really enjoyed our stay in Il Papavero Hotel and were pleased both bythe clean rooms and the staff that was always willing to help or offer a piece of advice. As the hotel is located near the Termini station, you can reach every corner of the city center in a short time. If we ever return to Rome, we're certainly going to stay in Il Papavero hotel again.

The location is excellent - very close to the main subway station, Termini. The rooms were extremely clean, secure and quiet. We basically had everything we needed and even more than we expected for a relatively low price, including a DVD player, a fan, a hair dryer. Each morning we received clean towels. The staff helped us by providing lots of information and free maps of Rome. I think we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay in the Italian capital.

Close to the railwaystation so you can reach the metro line easily but the railwystation area is ugly. The room and the bathroom was small. They clean the rooms every morning. There is a new rule in Rome, you have to pay for room occupancy tax to support Rome! 2 euro per person per night (max 10 days)

The hostel is quite easy to find and owns several rooms within one block. The staff was a little strange but overall very friendly and helpful. We booked a 6-bed dorm for 3 nights, and got upgraded to a private double en-suite for one night, and a 4-bed dorm for the other two! All rooms were very clean and the showers worked great. Also, it is close to 2 metro stops on the 2 lines that operate in Rome.

Overall a pretty nice hostel with amazing value-for-money!

Just note that there's a city tax of 2 Euro p.p. per night.

This was a wonderful place to stay. It was quite close to the main train station (about a 5 minute walk) but distant from main sites. The staff were incredible and very friendly and helpful. The hostel itself was very clean and safe. Sometimes they would change people's rooms without notice. This caused some issues for people. We really enjoyed our stay anyway.

Spent there 4 nights in April. The position is the best thing about Papavero - 7 minutes from Termini station + buses and both metro lines. The girl on reception is really helpful. Many restaurants around.

Disadvantages:

1)indistinct cleaning - they only made the bed and rearranged bath towels somehow for us to notice that they came

2)its too humid and cold in rooms in the ground floor (don't know about others)even in mid-April

All in all, for its price hotel is a good option if you don't intend to spent there much time except for sleeping.
