Quite a good location. Facilities and breakfst quite basic. Internet ok. Other hostellers were quite a friendly bunch - mostly Mexicans and Spanish which gave me a welcome chance to brush up on my language skills. The funniest part was swapping my Irish (Gaelic) for Basque. This drew a number of puzzled looks from the latinos.

Small and dirty room, terrible showers, staff does not speak english or italian, breakfast is rubbish. Only if you are terribly short on money. The only good thing is the location, in Cannareggio district.

By far one of the worst hostel experiences. Not only was the place dark, dinghy and weird-smelling, I also got bed bugs. I woke up with horrific bites all over my face, arms, legs and back and felt absolutely gross. And no it wasn't due to mosquitos as I saw the little bastards crawling all over the place. The only thing good about this place was the location, although the instructions made it really difficult to find. Don't stay here, you will regret it.

maybe for someone else who is a bit picky not the average hostel.

But seriously everything is good, like at home :)

The room was clean, stuff was very nice, even though they speak only basic english. For the price you have everything you need - basic breakfast, fridge, microwave and bed linen. Plus supermarket is only few streets away. Also you can leave there your lugugge after check-out. Overall - for this price I can only recommend.

This hostel doesn't have the proper owner anymore and was a big dissapointment, actually, it seems to just not be existing at all.

Somebody took over the place this year and continued renting the rooms.

We booked for four persons but had to share a doubble bed with three because there was not enough place; another couple arived that day and the owner decided to put us in the same room which could only provide place for 5. One of us had to sleep on a matras on the ground and had a very bad night. Breakfast was poor, the fridge smelled badly and we had to share a bathroom with two showers for about 16 people. If you had to go to the toilet, you had to wait if there were people using the showers, because you had to pass through the showerroom to get into the toilet, really unpleasant if you have an urgent call. Luckily, the owner only let us pay for three people instead of four. But even, when it comes to 21 euro a night, a quality this bad, isn't what you're looking for in such a great city such as Venice.

Sleep cheap at francesca's B&B does NOT exist anymore! When we arrived we were let it by a Chinese lady who was quite rude. She said Francesca's B&B was finished. She had taken over a very small apartment and rented the rooms, PHOTO's ARE INNACCURATE! We had to sleep with 6 in a room for 4 which we had booked for just us 4. Myself and 2 friends had to sleep in small twinbed and the other on a thin matrass on the floor. Only 1 toilet and 2 showers for a total of about 16 people! bathroom could not even be locked. No lockers to stash belongings whatsoever. Breakfast was the worst I ever had, soggy bagged bread, broken toaster, stale cereals and instant coffee. In the end we only payed for 3 people, which was still too much for this horrendous experience.

Even when she had already accepted the advance on the payment via internet she never called or emailed us to explain the situation. This woman is a fraud! This "hostel' should be closed forever. DON'T BOOK!

Its decent considering how hard it was to find something cheap in Venice. Its close to the train station but its a good walk to get to the main sights in Venice.

Neat room in a 300 year old building, very comfortable bed, elementary breakfast and located in the heart of Venice. Would probably be crowded if fully occupied. Make sure you use the mosquito repellent provided in the flat in the night.

Cheap and simple location in old house downtown. Good for a sleep and shower while you spend your time seeing the fantastic city of Venice. 8 min walk from railway station Venezia Santa Lucia, good description delivered to find. Nice staff will hand you the keys for house and room. Cook your cup of coffee in the morning, bread, marmelade, cornflakes are ready, WIFI worked well.

Location is awesome in Cannareggio. Francesca is a middle aged Asian guy, but that in itself is not problematic. The hygienic facilities are not all that clean, the beds were, no bugs or anything as described in other reviews. The breakfast is minimalistic.

Even though there is an oven in the kitchen we were not allowed to use it. Basically: you get what you pay for.

We are so sorry hearing about it. So far, we have not received any other complains as you mentioned here. You probably got it from somewhere else with poor hygiene.

It is a very clean hostel with friendly and helpful staff. Positioning is great: not so far from main streets and no noises that distract from relaxing. However, this hostel should have something like locked cupboards to keep valuable belongings. Was quite disappointed about the breakfast. But all in all, the hostel is great!

If you are just looking for a place to spend the night and your expectations with regards to cleanliness/privacy are not all too high Francesca's B&B is perfect. The owner is lovely, the location could not be better and the area is nice and quiet. Been there twice now and would definitely book a bed in this hostel again :-)

Firstly going into the hostel, anyone might be a little bit surprised. Essentially, it is a flat with a kitchen, living space, two bathrooms and two bedrooms that have the beds in them. The rooms, though, are roomy and there was never an issue with waiting for the toilet because at any one time there would only be 10 or 11 guests. Very friendly. I doubt that you would be able to find anywhere in Venice so central at such a good price. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It is easy to walk anywhere on the island from the hostel and, amazingly, it is on a street where there are not thousands of tourists all the time. It can be confusing finding the hostel, so try to arrive with a map in the day timeç1 That being said, even after my friend and I got lost going to it, the manager came out to find us when we called him. Which was very lovely of him.

Very Unfriendly guy, and please dont get confused with the name it is run by a chineese guy. The apartment was small, smelly. Small beds with only one small fan for 6 beds. Will never go there again.

But location was not that bad.

The owner's reply
You are such a underbred peoson. You brought back a stranger and left luggages without permission. If you notice me before you did it, I would say yes. And you still think you didn't do anything wrong. There is nobody or hotel will allow you do anything like this.

Merhaba Venedik merkezde kalabileceğiniz kahvaltı dahil en hesaplı yerlerden. It is a little bit difficult to find the building. The builing is very old, has intersting entrance and staircase.

It is one story, small hostel with 2 rooms. You can use the kitchen, that is a privelege because nearby there is supermarket.

It is a very silent place.

Don who is the staff, is a very friendly person. I strongly recoomend it. Have nice time in Venezia.

My first impression was pretty bad. I get lost in the little streets to arrive at the hostel and a tiny signs on te door said that it was there ... I was a bit scared ! And "Francesca" happenned to be a Chinese man. So I was disapointed.

But after this first impression, the man n charge was helpful, the place quiet and clean (except the really tiny and not that clean bathroom). So yes, I think I would recommend it for the price but that's all.

I am from Asia traveling alone in Venice. I feel safe to be in this hostel because the owner is always there at the entry of the hostel, so whoever will enter my room has to pass him. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The hostel is in the center of the city and comfortable. However, The final street to go to the hostel is a bit narrow that I thought not the way to the hostel and got lost. But when I called him he came out and pick me up. That's very nice of him. The only positive thing about this hostel is that it is probably the cheapest place offering bed+breakfast+freeWi-Fi, in whole Venice, however my friends and I had a terrible experience with the owner.

Negative things:

-The hostel is more like a house with two bedrooms, the owner sleeps on the upper floor and spends his all day in the hostel's kitchen (I think that's his living room). Each night he was waiting for us to come back to the hostel and then he was off to sleep.

-The photo of the backyard shown on this website is not in the hostel, it is the view we had from the room.

-There is no balcony, so the owner told us that we can smoke close to the window in the hall, but the next day he was yelling at us for smoking there.

-The toilet/bathroom is next to the kitchen; you need to go through the kitchen to use the toilet while someone is having a breakfast.

-The owner spends his nights sitting in the kitchen on his computer, so if you are a group of friends coming back to the hostel after a long night, you can't just sit and chat because his wife won't be happy with the noise and he yells at you.

-There is no common area or a living room like most hostels have.

-The owner charged us for the tourist tax but didn't ask for our passports, names or any identification.

Overall, we saved money sleeping in this Hostel, but we wouldn't go there again.

The owner's reply
Our hostel provides public room for all guests, and it is not your private property. You came back at around 2am, smoking, drinking and disturbing the neiborhoods. Moreover, you allow persons who were not our guests here. In this case, we can call the police man. We do not do so, and reminded you many times. Unfortunately, it does not make any senses for you. Finally, the only thing I can do is not go to sleep, stay there and make sure that you would not make anything ridiculous. If there is no guests like you, I do not need to do so.

Not the best place. Entrance is very odd and confusing. The bed and sheets was clean. Breakfest was the worst. The owner is strange and his wife owns the downstairs hostel. Can't use any appliances cause he his cheap. Oh and the shower is disgusting. I'd recommend paying more and going someplace better. Guess we all make mistake.:-/

This hostel is not so far from the train station, you can go easily get there if you don't miss the way.

It is not so bad hostel, room was not so dirty, but there is only one shower room. It is very hard to take a shower in winter, I guess. You can eat breakfast which are breads, coffee, tea, and sirials.

The position is really good, next to everywhere and in a quite place. The beds are confortable, very clean and new, but the place is too old to keep it 100% clean. The staff is very correct and the breakfast is plenty. Maybe the price is a little bit high for the facilities offered.
