After booking online I was told the Brighton Beach location was full, and was relocated to their Coney Island building. Being just two blocks away it didn't seem like a problem, until the elevated train roared by all night long. If you stay here be sure to bring earplugs as the trains run day and night just outside the back. Another helpful hint, don't leave any food on the floor as rodents will try get at it. The best thing about this accomodation is the staff are friendly, and the price is cheap. Don't plan to get more than you paid for, though for me the hot shower was a nice surprise.

Troy did not stay at Brighton Beach Guesthouse.

He even canceled his reservation.

We helped find him an other place ($23/night) different place, different management. His rating refers to an other place, not Brighton Beach Guesthouse.

A very good hostel for young people who can manage by themselves. I was given a very nice bedroom, and the staff, if not always around (which was completely understandable since it was labour day!) is helpful and nice. The lady tenant always answers quickly on phone and care about her hosts. The clean showers and clean practical kitchens were a relief after many hostels I've seen. Good atmosphere, friendly and respectful of ones privacy. Very close to the subway, yet incredibly quiet. All in all, I would definitely come back here again on my next NY trip.

The hostel is located in a quiet and peaceful quarter, 100 m away from the Brighton Beach stop (B&Q Subway – metro, underground ), and within 400 m from the Atlantic Ocean. It is possible to go to the beach. The hostel owners are pleasant and kind people. The place offers free coffee, internet and Wi-Fi access. Visitors can use a kitchen furnished with fridges, cooking utensils and tableware. The housekeeping standard is good. Reaching Manhattan by Subway (underground) takes 40 min. A lot of Russians live in the quarter and there are a number of Russian shops nearby.

The address of the hostel needs to be updated on the internet as the correct way of presenting it is:

Brooklyn

# 3014 8-th Street, Brighton Beach

Hostel is in very good condition. Far away from manhattan, but well connected to the subway. There isnt a common room though, so its very noisy until very late at night as people just hang out on the sofas infront of the rooms.

I stayed 4days in Brighton beach guest house and this place was very good, it is at 5min walking distance from the subway and 10min from the beach. And also there is commercial market near by where many good resturants are located and some are remain open till late night. The staff is quite cooperative.

I recommend that place for others who want to pass their vacations in New York with mini budget.

This hostel was not at the address listed; I walked around for a while looking for it, and could not find it. The address it was supposed to be at was a real estate office that was closed.

The hostel was really nice. I would not look for anything better for the next time I am in NY. Many thanks for the kindness of the staff. To those who it may concern: the hostel is on the 8th street, not on the 5th!

Dear Hostel clubs,

The Brighten beach where I stayed was a wonderfully calm place. Half a minute walk to main market and to subway.

The minute walk market was all sort of stuff, Continental, Asian and Europe STUFF all cocktailed. The wonderful part of hostel was a BEACH at 5 min. walk, A wonderful place for even those who are not health concious. The management was extremely cooperative and helpful. I love to spend time with my friends in future.

Pretty nice place, only needs to take 1 subway to Manhanttan and takes 40 min and runs 24/7 you only walk 2 block to take the subway and ready to go. Heidi the owner is such a nice person, rooms are really comfortables. I really recommend the place to any who wants to visit NYC and save money.

Brighton Beach Guesthouse is a great place to stay. Located just only a few blocks from the Q and B train it makes getting around NYC a breeze. Adele, the owner is very sweet and fosters an environment where guests can feel welcomed and at home. You'll find everything that you need and maybe more, so come and see for yourself.

It was a really nice place! It is a bit far away from Manhattan but you can still have fun, and you can find a lot of places where it is cheap to eat! You should go there, one of the cheapest and best hoostel in NYC ever!

Though quite a distance away from Manhattan, this is compensated by a lively (Russian) neighbourhood close to the bay. In my view it is a convenient place to stay, with very friendly and helpful staff, and good value for money.
