I liked the apartment concept but bathroom was filthy with barely any toilet paper left ( I had to request some), mattress was horrible, the window was cut to install A/C so could hear everything from outside like an open window and heater was blocked to super hi. suffocated in there and my skin didn't like it either.

-Toilet didn't have a sink to wash your hands, which I believe is almost illegal
-I wouldn't say it is a hostel, but shared apartments: there are no other common rooms in the building (8 men sleeping in a studio apartment, one shower, one sink-less toilet, one small coach, one chair, no tables), not even a front desk with someone to assist your needs, only a phone number to call.
-Good things: wi-fi high-speed internet, a big fridge, plenty of clean towels and sheets.

The loftlan is not a hostel is an apartment. After you book the hostel through the site, you receive an email saying that Loflan have several rooms in New York and address of the hostel is not who you thought, that address is a central Loftlan office. I think it's wrong, the location of the hostel is not clear, even decided to take a risk and went there. Arriving at the Loftlan office you receive the key to your apartment that there is a few blocks from there you need to get a taxi.
The location of the apartment is apparently ugly, dirty and a building without cleaning, but to my surprise the room was reasonably clean and comfortable. The location is good (49th Street between Avenue 10 and 11). I thought that lack safety, do not have lockers for you to keep your luggage and how each one has its key and people come and go all the time you do not know if someone can steal it.
Overall for the price and location is worth it.

Very nice place, closer to times squeare, where you have all subway lines to get to all manhattan, the place is very clean and comfortable, it's a very good option!

I believe the Loftlan guys manage a bunch of apartments in the vicinity of Times Square, and these have been converted into dorms. I stayed in one on 35th street. The location was extremely convenient with a subway on the corner, but I didn't have any trouble with street noise. The apartment itself was really nice with polished floors, separate bathroom/shower, lounge, tv, hairdryer, etc; and I only ever had one other roommate at a time over my six night stay. There was no lift so this may be a consideration if you have an injury or disability. I wouldn't hesitate to book a room with Loftlan again, but if you want to meet lots of fellow travellers then you'd probably be better off at a larger hostel.

Hi guys, Just wanted to say that the accomodations were very convienient, but there was some trouble with roaches. That part was discusting. They were all over, when I woke up in the am, there was roach crawling on wall next to bed, YUCK.

When I was there, there was only 1 other girl. This is not really like a hostel; the kitchen had only 1 pot, some plastic cups, nothing to wash even your hands.
Price was very high for just the bed and very basic facilities. Staff was not present, to pick up the key was at an office elsewhere.

There are lots of cockroaches, the shower room and the floors are not cleaned often enought. I don't recommand this place, it's cheap, near of attractions but, it's not funny to watch were you walk or watch your bagages because of cockroaches...

It's a great deal, the location is just PERFECT, and the staff sooooo friendly!!Some people complain about the clean, but this is up to the guest, the owner is always there cleaning at least once per day. Very nicce deal!

Dit hostel ligt goed gelegen, veel op loopafstand. Je hebt alleen niet het gevoel dat je in een hostel verblijft, want het is een appartement. Het is er alleen niet zo heel schoon. Maar verder is het wel lekker rustig.

Good location, close to Central park, Times sqaure, 2hr walk to chinatown and little italy. for some reason they took the sheets off my bed on the last night, and the bed was a futon so not very comfortable.

Really great accomodating staff, if youre looking for a hostel to meet up with alot of people you'd might have to reconsider your choice of accomodation since Loftlan are apartments in different areas so you wont meet more than a few people. Also, there is a bit of a roach-issue but nothing serious. Otherwise very clean, think it comes with the old building. I do not regret staying there at all!
