AAE Hostels and Hotel San Diego **

A number of suspicious looking "tenants" hanging around.

Toilet+shower has a lot to improve, including mold, poor ventilation, low water pressure, water not warm enough.

This place is do terrible. I don't recomend. A lot of old and weird people. Don't go there!

the breakfast place wasn't very good, but the room was perfectly fine for a small hostel room if you don't expect a luxury hotel. had a nice stay there.

I only paid $33 per night. The room is small but very clean. The shower room is also clean, and individually separated. Also, great location, close to everywhere. The only downside is it's kind noisy, but with that low price, it is tolerable. I will definitely stay again and recommend to my friends.

Great location next to the harbor. Not very much going on at the hostel, wich I guess is good if you wanna have a good night's sleep.. A lots of wierd people saying here though..

Good for budget traveler, no frills, shared bathrooms clean. NOT an AEE hostel, had to pay more than my invoice showed, AEE takes a fee. I felt I was deceived. Call 500west directly hotel to avoid a fee. Good location near train station, bus to airport.

Staff tried to make me pay for extra night upon checking out, saying that reservation rate was incorrect. I said too bad. Room staff would knock and enter even with dnd sign. Soap dispenser in bathroom absolutely disgusting. Nice staff, poorly managed.

there are some misleading when I reserved room on the HOSTELSCLUB website:1. you will be charged 40 Euro book fee in advance, which has nothing to do with the AAE hotel. 2. All the room rate listed on line are in EURO, so you can hardly notice that, and would misunderstand it with dollar. That's it! I will open my eye and not book room on the HOSTELSCLUB website anymore.

My experience at 500 West Broadway was very good.This is a very functional and affordable hotel/hostel with a very good and friendly cafe.

The booking was horrible. The wrong hotel was booked because of a glitch in the system and I called as soon I got my resevation confirmation. Sylvia gave me such a hard time and would not correct my reservation. Hotel was great but because of the horrible booking expereince would not stay here again myself and will tell others not to either!!!!

Really good clean hostel in a fantastic spot. Staff were great and area is perfect for going out.

On their website they say they give free breakfast, but only apples and coffee are thre.

Nice smart building but the dorms are tiny. Also there was nothing in the kitchen; no pots, plates or even cutlery. When I asked staff they were very vague and said someone was supposed to buying them. Not a gret stay really.

Convenient location, good amenities. Overall very pleasant. Couple of niggles....room was quite hot, and needed to keep the window open to cool it. Also, previous occupant's vomit out the window was still there....?how long for?

well it is a YMCA. Nice, well located, cheap, confortable, If you want top brand this is not for you (but you should know !!!) if you want the a place where to rest it is more than OK.

Bobby the manager was so friendly and accommodating. He welcomed me and took care of all of my needs. The cafe attached was convenient to go for breakfast. A great place to stay, convenient location.

the bathrooms are in desperate need of updating, they are really not at all pleasant. The carpet in my bedroom had bleach stains and the whole room neede at good scrub and a paint. Would be better to have tiles/wood laminate floors in bedrooms. The size of the room was fine, neede some drawers thought ideally and a bedside lamp. The location was Brilliant and the price excellent, but most people would pay a little extra for newer bathrooms and better bedrooms. he mattress was very comfy. Staff were very good.

I had a great time here. Very nice and clean. I didn't necessarily have "fun" in the hostel...but I don't look for that in the place that I stay. The location was prime for night life and proximity to the airport. Also, only a block or two from the bay. You can't walk to the beach though, if that's what you're looking for.

The staff was cheerful, helpful and professional. This historic building was an honor to visit. I wish there was not overhead music at the bathrooms upstairs. The cafe food choices were great (two eggs for $1.50!) It's neat having the YMCA in the basement with access to their machines! The modern kitchen has all appliances (gas stove!), but no dishware, flatware, utensils or dishtowels, so cooking is not easy. Private food kept disappearing, so a well-publicized video monitor should be added to the kitchen!
