You cannot travel to Australia without having in mind to make a road trip through its territory. However, this giant country is located exactly on the opposite side of the world and once you get there, certainly, you will not stop for a weekend, but we hope for much more.

Organize a road trip is not easy, but it is definitely one of the backpacking trips that gives more satisfaction and allows you to see different things in a short time.

We have to propose you 3 ideas for one road trip in Australia. There's a bit of everything, you have no excuse to don't think about it.

FROM CAIRNS TO BRISBANE

A road trip designed for those who love the sea and who can'tt wait to dive to admire the beauty of the reef. A journey that from Cairns reaches Brisbane in about 19 hours driving, to be distributed according to your interests.

Between Cairns and Brisbane there are so many things to see, from the beautiful Airlie Beach

with one of the most beautiful islands in the world called Whiteheaven

Townsville city

the Capricorn Caves near the Mackay city , the Fraser Island (without forget the beautiful Rainbow Beach)

and finally Noosa, with its beautiful natural landscapes.

WHERE TO STAY

Starting from Cairns we suggest you to sleep in the Calypso Inn Backpackers

or the Gillians Backpackers

both two cheap hostels and rich services.

In Townswille the Adventure Backpackers or the Rambutan Hostel

will be happy to give you a comfortable bed to sleep.

In Airlie Beach we recommend you two hostels belonging to two chains with a great reputation the Base Airlie Beach Resort

and the Nomads Airlie Beach.

Driving down to Noosa, however, the Flashpackers Noosa

and the Nautilus Noosa Holiday Resort, are two very valid hostels.

In Brisbane if you want to sleep in a luxurious hostel for the price of a normal hostel, we can only advise the Bunk Backpackers, but if you prefer something more "basic", but with a stunning roof terrace, there is the Summer House Backpackers.

FROM BRISBANE TO MELBOURNE

If you have enough time, you can also think to integrate this second road trip with the first one, but consider that you will need at least fifteen days to do everything.

From Brisbane to Melbourne it takes about 18-19 hours drive, making a total bill, and you'll pass through Sydney, Coffs Harbour and Canberra

if you decide to go through the inside, or see the Camel Rock, the famous rock in camel's shape , passing by the coast.

WHERE TO STAY

In Sydney you will find a wide range of hostels, from the most expensive to the cheapest, we recommend you a middle ground: The Sinclairs City Hostel and the Elephant Backpackers.

Upon arrival in Coffs Harbour, the Plantation Backpackers will have no difficulty in becoming your new home, thanks to the great hospitality of its managers.

In Melbourne, the Discovery Melbourne

it is one of the best hostels in town, but if you prefer to stay close to penguins, the Nomads St Kilda Beach is the right place.

FROM PERTH TO BROOME

Compared to the first two road trip, this route will take you from Perth to Broome and is characterized by lunar and desert landscapes that will take your breath away. Completely different landscapes, then, but absolutely fascinating.

To do it slowly and to giving you the right timing you will need to have at least fifteen days or more.

On the road you will see the Pinnacles Desert

and the pink lake of Port Gregory, two nature's wonders.

Arriving in Broome, there is the Karijini National Park, stop for a ride here.

WHERE TO STAY

In Perth we suggest you two hostels: the Backpacker City and Surf, for a peaceful and relaxed stay, and the Billabong Backpackers Resort

for one more lively.

In Broome instead, the Cable Beach Backpackers will be happy to have you as a guest.
