How many times happened to you to get back from a trip and say "oh if I had known it before ..." there are things that could be useful to know in advance, but that often we only discover on the place.
Since that, in a previous article, we already gave you 7 reasons to visit the capital of Spain, now we want to give you some advices to know that may help you before traveling to Madrid.
Maybe you'll think that some of them are obvious, but you will realize that just because they are obvious, we tend to take them for granted and we don't worry about them.
THE TIMES
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are later than our time. You'll realize that the shops do not open until 10am, that at 7am you will not find bar open and that go to dinner before 9pm is just unusual. In Madrid, as in the rest of Spain, times are shifted by one or two hours ahead, do not worry, you'll get used soon.
OLIVES ARE FREE WITH THE APERITIF
Saying the truth, it is not easy to find a bar where tapas are offered, where, however, it is more common in a city like Valencia. You will find so many appetizers (paid) to taste, but the olives are free with a beer or a glass of wine.
THE BEST NEIGHBORHOOD WHERE TO STAY
One of the best areas to stay in Madrid is close to Plaza Santa Ana, being close to many places of interest and very well served by public transport.
As hostels we want to suggest you two, that are between Plaza Santa Ana and Plaza Mayor. The first is the Cat's hostel
modern in design, with a greater appreciation rating of 85%, or, The Hat Madrid, offering a plentiful breakfast and a sun terrace few steps away from Puerta del Sol.
NIGHT NEVER ENDS
Do you know the saying "the night is young"? Here, it seems that in Madrid it is more than in other cities of the world! Here the nightlife is very, very partecipated. Clubs, bars and discoteques always have some new event to propose ... certainly it will not be so hard finding something to do, to spend the evening. Madrid, along with Barcelona, is the home of the Spanish nightlife.
BUY TICKETS ONLINE TO AVOID QUEUES
This last one suggestion is, now, for the most tourist cities. Buy tickets online to visit museums, avoids a big waste of time, the queues, especially at weekends they are so long and you run the risk to loose half day waiting to enter.
