Venice is beautiful in all seasons, but in winter, in some ways, it is even more.

Venice in winter is covered with snow, its roofs turn white as its streets, creating a whole new one atmosphere.

There are some things, though, which is good to know if you decide to come to Venice in winter, that will help you to better live it.

YOU COULD FIND HIGH WATER

The period from November to December is when the phenomenon of high water occurs more. A tip, therefore, is to come prepared. Buy a pair of those boots, disposable, that you can put in the backpack, to avoid getting your feet wet when you least expect it.

CALATRAVA BRIDGE IS SLIPPERY 

Because of the high humidity present in Venice, on the architect's bridge Calatrava, in winter, it's slippery and you risk getting hurt. Better to walk in the middle part of the bridge.

THE FOG

Venice is also famous for another natural phenomenon, typical of this period, the fog. The fog is fascinating, but in Venice can get to be really tight and doesn't let you to see beyond your nose.

Venice becomes almost mysterious with the fog, enjoy it even in this particularity.

IN WINTER THERE'S THE CARNIVAL

The famous Carnival of Venice takes place right in winter, between January and February. If you happen here at this time, come up with an idea for an original costume and to parade, among the streets and the city courts.
