Buenos Aires is a safe city, overall, and in spite of poverty caused by the recent economic crises.

To be safe, you should follow the usual general advice: - don't go in dark places at night - beware of pickpockets in the tourist and overcrowded areas - don't carry too much valuable stuff with you, and if you are robbed don't react, it can be dangerous.

You should also be careful if there are big protests going on in the street, as the situation can get dangerous very quickly. Although it is exciting to watch mass protests, you can get hurt if you're not too careful.

The banks after the crisis have become quite a difficult institution to deal with. Make sure you come to the country with some cash.
