Keep reading and fall in love with this beautiful city, and you will soon want more!
Historical wealth
Binnenhoff and Ridderzaal are the words with great historical significance for the city. The first one refers to the old castle of the Counts of Holland, transformed into a set of very important historical buildings at an institutional level.
Ridderzaal is the democratic heart of the Netherlands, which has a close union with its medieval past and where you can find the Hall of Knights.
The Girl with a Pearl Earring
Whether you are an art lover or not, we're sure you know the famous painting by the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. Write down the name of Mauritshuis and do not miss one of the sweetest and most beautiful faces of the pictorial world.
In this museum you will have the opportunity to enjoy one of the best collections of Dutch and flamenco art of the seventeenth century, contemplating works by Rembrandt, Paulus Potter, Frans Hals, Jordaens, Rubens, or Brughel the Elder.
The most Oriental side
Walking through The Hague you can find pieces of the whole world and, of course, the city has its own Chinatown. To see it, you must drift to the Wagenstraat area -don't worry, you can't get lost, it is right in the centre!- what was the Jewish quarter before the Second World War.
Two oriental entrance doors, typical red paper lanterns decorating the streets ... take the chance and get lost in this mini-China!
A city in miniature
And speaking of mini ... did you know that in The Hague you can feel like Gulliver? In the coastal district of Scheveningen you can find the smallest city in Holland, named the Madurodam park. Here you can find the most emblematic places in the Netherlands on a scale of 25: 1.
With an area of 60,000 square meters, it is the ideal place for the little ones -and the not so little ones- to have a great time!
Where to stay in The Hague
After so much walking you will be sure need a good rest and what better place than one of the hostels in The Hague?
