A Fábrica da Luz is one of the oldest Hydroelectric power station built in Galiza. It was built at the turn of the century, between 1914-1916, when it was built ' A canle vella ' to channel the water from Mao River's and flow into in A Fabrica da Luz. Being a tecnologic, social and architecture milestone in the area.

In the 2011, for initiative of the Council of Parada de Sil is recovered this Industrial Heritage in order to be a new place of leisu

Fábrica da Luz is located in Mao´s River canyon, in the heart of Ribeira Sacra. Surrounded by chestnut, ash, oaks, hazels, birches, vines .... A wonderful environment where you can rest, do active tourism activities and enjoy the natural and historical heritage of the area.

The facility is located along Mao´s River, a major tributary of the Sil, running down from the Sierra de San Mamede and small waterfalls running through narrow passages and creating small pools where you can give a comfort
