설명

The Relais San Maurizio, an enchanting five-star residence unique of its kind in Piedmont, overlooks Santo Stefano Belbo in the heart of the Langhe. In this 17th century monastery, restored to splendour, the magical atmosphere of the surroundings is combined with most elegant and qualified art of reception. The buildings are home to the famous restaurant ‘Guido da Costigliole’, owned by the Alciati family.

Since Autumn 2003, it has also hosted the Vinothérapie® SPA, managed by the well-known company Caudalie of Bordeaux, France. The conference area is ideal for prestigious events.
The Relais is an exclusive and reserved area looking out on hillsides carpeted with Moscato vineyards. The area is rich in literary allusions which recall the Italian writers Cesare Pavese and Beppe Feneglio.
On the ground floor, there are several refined and elegant salons, with decorations and frescoes, which look out onto the green surroundings and park with suggestive glimpses of Langa.
The winter garden, heart of the complex, has a spectacular panoramic view of the Muscatel and Dolcetto vineyards. A place to relax and meet, it has a piano for accompanying aperitifs and the Wine & Cocktail Bar dedicated to Ernest Hemingway.
The large dining room, in pastel, suffused tones, is one of the rooms which has been most richly refurbished in the restoration of the old monastery. Its “dry” pictorial decoration is a masterpiece for the variety of subjects and the quality of the work. Large French windows create an ideal continuity between this fantastic garden and the real one outside.
A small church is an integral part of the Relais San Maurizio. Its pictorial decorations, subjected to careful restoration, date from the late 17th century, like the architectural structure. It is an ideal exhibition area and is also used for meetings and exclusive events.
The rooms obtained from the former monks’ cells open on to the long and evocative corridor –on two floors - which, at one time, the monks walked along in prayer. The rooms are in two buildings: the Villa Principale (Main House) and Antico Fienile (Old Barn).of the 31 rooms is unique in atmosphere, furnishing and decoration. The centuries old, panoramic park overlooked by the Relais San Maurizio has a special, favourable microclimate which enables arbutus, ancient olive trees, spruces, larches and majestic beeches to live together as well as many local plants such as elms, oaks and shrubs.
All the common rooms, and those in the main body of the building including the café and the Frescoed Room where breakfast is served, look out onto the internal garden, a triumph of flowers and colour.
Once upon a time they were the cellars of the monastery, used for wine making and aging the bottles. Today, after restoration to the original splendour of decorative stone and barrel vaulting, these two evocative rooms host ‘Guido’s’ restaurant – a famous interpreter of Piedmontese cuisine which has found a new and prestigious home at the Relais.
The restaurant is run by Andrea Alciati and his mother, Lidia. It offers some traditional Piedmontese dishes and others, more creative, which are often built around ‘cult’ products of the area, such as truffles from Alba, cardoons, and meat from Piedmont.
Stupendous combinations are suggested with wine from the restaurant’s well-stocked cellar. Here, in addition to rare bottles, new emerging labels from small producers - and not just local ones - can also be tasted, selected by Alciati junior.
The Vinotherapie Caudalie Spa at the Relais San Maurizio was built in the old cellars, under dry stone vaults, of the former sixteenth century monastery which dominates the hills and vineyards of the Langhe. Here, there is all the experience and knowledge of Caudalie. The Vinothérapie® specialists are trained in Bordeaux and carry out the famous Caudalie treatments.
Created by Caudalie of Bordeaux, France, the new Vinothérapie® Spa in the Relais San Maurizio is an oasis of wellbeing in the heart of the vineyards of Piedmont.
