Situated on the gateway to the Wild Coast of South Africa, Buccaneers Lodge & Backpackers is perfectly placed for a holiday stop on your journey around S.A. People sometimes describe this retreat as a 'backpackers village' because of the way the facilities and rooms sprawl across the property, making use of beautiful little enclaves with all the best views! Looking down upon Cintsa Bay and beach, even the dorm rooms have stunning views!

Looking for a bit of luxury? You can try one of our new Suites with a million dollar view, gaze down upon Cintsa Bay from your own private sundeck (or even from the comfort of your bed!). There are also sea and bay view en-suites available, all situated in a simple beach cottage with a bright character of its own. All en-suites include linen, an outdoor sundeck or private patio and shower room facilities.

Travelling in a group? There a several cottages available for hire as a whole - each cottage sleeps 4 guests as standard, has its own braai and outdoor area, kitchen and bathroom facilities. Perfect for families or groups of friends.

Travelling on a shoe-string? Try one of our Budget Twin and Double rooms or go jungle style in one of our spacious safari tents or you can always book a dorm bed and join the backpackers revelry.

Looking to camp? Pitch your tent in our forest campsite where you are surrounded by guava trees and can listen to the sea just the other side of the giant sand-dunes.

Self catering is always an option at Buccaneers but we are famous for our delicious meals made fresh every evening; fair on the pocket, big hearty portions and always a vegetarian option available. Also available to all guests is the bar, pool and pool bar, volleyball court & internet cafe, gift shop and any quiet spot you can find to put your feet up and enjoy the view.


Buccaneers is family owned and run and makes travelers of all shape and size feel welcome. Come get to know us, be a part of the family, share your story...and most of all relax. The coastal village of Cintsa is known as 'the small village with the big heart' - a village where 'community' could almost be a verb. Buccaneers offers several ways to get involved in this community spirit be it through visiting the local Farm School to see their concert and donate a few rand towards their feeling scheme, to taking a tour around the education projects in Cintsa village...you can even volunteer in the new Cintsa Creche for a day (or a month!).

Cintsa is also a part of the Adventure Province of the Eastern Cape and offers several adventure activities close at hand - mountain biking, zip-lining, surfing and kitesurfing lessons, beach horse trails and more, are all available to book at Buccaneers.All you can always sit back, relax and take in a bit of sun on our warm sandy beach.
