About us
Hostel Na putu is proud to be the first of its kind in Karlovac City. Situated at the very heart of the old city centre in a traditional early 19th century baroque style house with a courtyard.

Hostel Na putu is our vision of what a backpacker hostel should be: Cheap, comfortable accommodation where you can relax, feel at home and meet other like-minded travellers while you explore this beautiful region of Croatia and its historical city on four rivers.

A little bit of history
The City of Karlovac started life as a fortified military outpost whose purpose was to strengthen the southern borders of the Austro-Hungarian Empire against Ottoman invasions. Construction of Karlstadt (as it was called then) began on 13th July 1579 under the instruction of Archduke Charles II of Austria (“Karl” in German. So, Karl-stadt, or Charles’ Town in English… get it?!).
