About the property

The property is divided in 3 buildings in one of the most central and historical areas of Funchal. The main house, São Paulo, was built over the city wall still visible from the breakfast lounge and restaurant.
Alegria, on the other hand, is a small, bright and cosy building from the 50's.
This family business is runned for over 30 years by the owner, José Mendonça, and his friendly staff. The cosy and familiar atmosphere and the proximity to locals and their traditions creates the perfect conditions to get to know the city of Funchal!

Accommodation

Equipped studios with one or two bedrooms with capacity for 8 persons composed of equipped kitchen or kitchenet, 1 or 2 bathrooms, complimentary WiFi, Flat screen TV with international channels, ventilation, safety box, hairdryer, linens, towels and soap. Daily housekeeping service and multilingual reception provided.

Each one of our antique buildings has its own identity reflected on the decoration, mainly classic portuguese design, and different features. - São Paulo main building and Alegria I have panoramic roof terraces and Alegria II has a lovely courtyard with solarium and barbecue area. The main building also features a breakfast lounge and reception.

Surroundings

Apartamentos São Paulo e Alegria are located in one of Funchal's most authentic areas, where some of the most impressive emblazoned houses stands. The majority of the restaurants and local stores are located in the iconic 'Rua da Carreira' just steps away from our building. Cathedral is 5 minutes away and La Vie Shopping Center is only two minutes (walking distance). From this location is very easy to explore the island by bus as all the main bus stops and aerobus are in the surroundings.
