Here at Bungalows La Buena Vida we have created the true Ecuadorian ambience for the laid back traveller looking for an uncrowded beach on the beautiful Ecuadorian coast. We have 6 brand new modern/eco bungalows that are very spacious and comfortable. With Orthopedic memory foam beds to the private bathroom with hot water, our rooms will leave you feeling complete after your stay here in Ayampe.

This small resort was Ecuadorian hand crafted with local materials from the beach and surrounding jungle to enrich the look of our serene property.

Pick a hammock or the random seating somewhere on our property to kick back and enjoy your drink while looking up at one of the best views of the stars you will ever see. Maybe you might want to watch a surf movie or a sports game ?, no worries it is all your finger tips...

La Buena Vida Resort consists of 6 Comfortable Eco Bungalows or 2 triple rooms (Double bed & Single bed) and 4 double rooms (Double beds).

Each room has a private bathroom with hot water, air-conditioning, a fan, memory foam beds, fresh linens & WIFI capability.
The kitchen is located in our Vida Bar and can be accessed by anyone who needs to use it during Lunch & Dinner hours only. (*Not Breakfast time*)

The room are serviced daily and laundry service is available. There is a secured parking at your disposal also.

The Vida Bar & Lounge has a 40' LCD TV with DirectTV and there is a movie collection for our guests. We offer a fully stocked bar serving mixed drinks, beer, wine & sodas. The ' Vida Bar ' is your area in the mornings for a full American Style Breakfast with amazing views of our area and in the evening the bar comes to life with music and mixed drinks.

The wave
An exposed beach break breaking right and left depending on the swell, this wave offers a wide variety of options for all levels of surfers. If a dominant North swell is showing our beach lights up like a point break with rights peeling on the outside for about 200 yards then to an inside section that barrels hard. If you catch a South or West swell the conditions will vary depending on tides with many empty left and right peaks to ride but never the less the waves are rarely flat. If you are learning with our surf school we will most likely take you out when the tide is low in the surf close to shore and judge your ability. However, if you are an advanced surfer incoming tides always bring bigger surf with an outside peak just a short paddle away. The best part about our beach is the lack of crowds due to our remote location in a very large mountain range... You will surf alone.

Swell & consistency
Our beach breaks year round with little to no crowds. The main season is late November-May and is the best time to visit with consistent surf, really sunny days and warm water. However, our property is open in the off season too. Average wave size is 3-6 feet daily with 1 to 2 big swells a month with the bigger days running anywhere from 6-12 feet with great form. Out of 365 days per year i would have to say Ayampe and the surrounding area have waves 300 of those days.

Winds
Unlike Central America, Ecuador does not suffer from mid day harsh offshore winds. We do get offshore winds but, they are light in the morning if not non-existent. Early in the morning you will find no winds with perfect glassy conditions guaranteed. In the off season the winds will pick up light onshore but the waves still hold up because of the strong southern swells.

Reef
Ayampe has 1 reef break about a 15 minute boat ride away that is a hollow grinding right hander and breaks over shallow rocks (Advanced surfers recommended). The 2nd break is a rock point that sits in a bay and is a nice mellow left hander that can get up to 12 feet and break 200 yards easily with a nice tube section on the inside (Med-Adv surfers reccommended). And the 3rd is a remote left hand rock break that is about a 20 minute car ride away then either a hike on foot for 15 minutes or a 25 minute boat ride from the bay (Med-Adv surfers reccommended). All 3 spots are consistent and pick up swells from most directions. Ask about transportation or a guide to these areas for an extra cost.

Surf School and Rentals
Here at Bungalows La Buena Vida we will be offering surf lessons with a booked surf package or for any indivdual who wants to learn for a small price. Each price will vary but you will get a full hour lesson with all equipment needed. You will then have the board to use for free for an additional hour to see if you can use what you learned to get you up and riding. The boards will be for rent for everybody even if your not our guest. We have 2 - 6'9 soft Liquid Shredders, 2 - 6'4 soft Liquid Shredders and 1 - 5'8 soft Liquid Shredder and all boards come with a leash. All classes will be scheduled upon availability, wave conditions and will be taught on our beach here in Ayampe.

We will also be offering video analysis and digital stills of your day learning to surf if requested for a small fee. If you are an experienced surfer and want us to capture your trip on video or with pictures that will last a lifetime we can provide it for you. Video will be shot in HD for a nice compact movie of clips from your adventure here with us. The still photos are all shot with a Nikon DSLR and we can combine it with the movie shoot or do still sessions.
