From the airport:

Public bus number 35:
Takes you straight to Forest Road, stop just opposite the bar.
Duration: 45min - 60 min
Cost: £1.50 single / £3.50 day ticket

Air Link Express 100:
Takes you to Waverley Bridge. Short walk between 10 and 20 min, depending on how quick you get your luggage up to the royal mile via Cockburn Street (see directions from Waverley Station)
Duration: 25-30min
Price: £4.50 single / £7.50 (open) return

From Waverley Station:

1. Exit Waverley station on Market Street.
2. Turn right and walk past the Edinburgh Dungeon till you come to a small roundabout.
3. Turn left and walk up Cockburn Street until you reach the Royal Mile. (Gives you a first taste of Old Town Edinburgh.)
4. Turn right and follow the Royal Mile past St Giles Cathedral until you reach the first crossroad.
5. Turn left on George the 4th Bridge. (Keep on the right side of the road.)
6. Walk past Grey friars Bobby (Statue of a cute little dog - surrounded by tourists) untill you are on Forest Road (road makes a soft turn to the right.)
7. Spot Malone's Irish bar on the opposite side of the street.
8. Cross the road safely and take the small entrance right next to the bar. (on the left)

From St Andrews Square (Bus stop):

1. Exit Bus stop on St Andrews Square, turn left and walk all the way down to Princess Street (big shopping street)
2. Turn right and take the first street to your left called Waverley Bridge.
3. Walk it all the way down to the small roundabout. Cross it and walk up Cockburn Street until you reach the Royal Mile.
4. Turn right and follow the Royal Mile past St Giles Cathedral until you reach the first crossroad.
