OVERHEAD HOSTEL

Overhead Hostel was started in September 2014 and formerly operated at Tidal Surf Hostel. We are 3 surfers from Taiwan who wanted to make a hostel that also is home to our Surf shop and surf lessons.

We are the only surf shop run by locals who know all the good secret spots for surfing, eating, adventures, parties. We want to share how amazing Hualien is and we do is in a cool laid back way that caters to international travelers. Only 8 minutes walk from the Hualien train station, within 1 block there is a breakfast restaurant, 7-11, Noodle soup restaurant. Scooter rentals are available close to the train station, and the Night market and shopping areas are only a 5 min scooter ride away. Enjoy the small city feel and have access to Toroko gorge 45 mins away, beaches, river trekking all within reach of our hostel.

We have 5 rooms. Each room has Air conditioning, room fans, linens. Each bathroom has free body wash/ shampoo, and hair dryers.
1- 8 person mixed dorm room, this is the cheapest room in the hostel with 1 shared bathroom on that floor.
2 - 4 person mixed dorm rooms. There are 2 bunk beds in each room and 1 shared bathroom for the two rooms.
2 - 4 person female only dorm rooms. There are 2 bunk beds in each room and 1 shared bathroom for the two rooms.


The first floor has comfortable lounge sofas, beverages for purchase, mixed drinks for purchase, Free computer and WiFi. We can arrange tours to Toroko Gorge, Scooter rentals, water fall trekking, river rafting, surfing, surf rentals. When the hostel is full sometimes we will prepare a special bbq meal for purchase, or arrange a group dinner. Just ask for more information!
