Al Gallo

Great little guesthouse 5 minutes walk from Campo San Margherita and St. Toma Vaporetto stop. Very handy to the main bus stop at Piazzale Roma also. We initially had trouble finding it however as there are 10+ "Calle del Forno" streets in Venice and hostelworld had marked it incorrectly on the map. Apart from this i'd recommend it to friends and family. It's in a nice area, and quiet (from loud noises) at night.

Direi che non ci siamo!! Al momento dell'arrivo, a causa di un non meglio precisato disguido, ci hanno comunicato che per la seconda notte ci avrebbero riservato un'altra sistemazione in appartamento. L'appartamento suddetto era un'autentica topaia che non vedeva delle pulizie serie da eoni...ma la cosa che più mi ha infastidito è il fatto che in realtà fosse già deciso al momento della prenotazione che ci avrebbero rifilato quella sistemazione, difatti il costo per la domenica era inferiore a quello di sabato, senza che la cosa fosse in alcun modo precisata giusto per metterci davanti al fatto compiuto: non si fa!! In tanti anni di ostelli in Italia, Europa e oltre oceano non mi è MAI successo niente del genere, ci sarà un perchè!! Maglia nera per la scorrettezza del gestore che ci ha causato scomodità e sbattimenti vari solo per la mentalità del profitto a ogni costo. Croce sopra e ostello tutta la vita!!

Wurden wegen Doppelbelegung in ein einfacheres Hotel für 2 Tage ausquartiert. Zimmer sehr hellhörig, Frühstück extrem sparsam: 1 Brötchen, 1 Kaffee! Nur Lage und Sauberkeit sind überzeugend!

I would advise this hotel: it is clean, pretty and well situated (In Venise, it is convenient to be close to the train station). Otherwise, the bed was not comfortable and we could hear the people of the other room. I have however seen worst for a one star hotel.

Pino, the owner, was very welcoming and made our stay a pleasant one. The location wasn't touristy (a positive thing for us) and we really enjoyed the selection of restaurants, bars, and cafes around the hotel. After traveling throughout Italy, Venice was by far our favorite destination. If we go back, we would definately stay at Al Gallo again.
