We rented a room in one of the apartments- amazingly high ceilings, friendly interior reasonably clean. Very laid back and extremely helpful staff with lots of local insights that you otherwise never get when just briefly visiting. Very private setting. Everything in the city center in easy walking distance.

we really enjoyed our visit and could recommend this place for all reasons! If you stay at the apartment you have all extras like a fully equiped kitchen, TV or a washing machine. There is no noise but you have bars, cafes and restaurants few steps away nevertheless. Public transports are quickly reachable and the helpful guy who runs the hostel can give you many useful informations!

We were accommodated in an apartment just a block away from the hostel. It is very spacious, high ceilings, huge living room (with tv and dvd), nice bathroom and kitchen. It was a bit dusty, but not at all problematic. Perfect for couples. The bed was very soft, but I suppose that doesn't bother a lot of people. Jimmy's speech is full of helpful information (he's a bit over paranoid though... :) All in all a very good hostel, I really recommend it.

I reccommend you this hostel!Everything is so nice! The owner is so kind and friendly, the place is good for access to everywhere. I think this is the best hostel in Budapest...!

Hola, acabo de regresar de este gran viaje por Budapest, y queria deciros que el hostal en el que nos hemos alojado estos dias (August Hostel) hemos estamos muy bien. El estudio es precioso y la ubicacion en la zona incomparable.
Además decir la gran hospitalidad de su personal que nos ayudaron mucho y nos informaron de su ciudad estupendamente.
Gracias por haber hecho que nuestra estancia sea muy buena.

das zweierzimmer entuppte sich als kleine wohnung mit küche, waschmaschine, wohnzimmer, extra arbeitsräumen. ein traum, für den preis auf ejden fall auch ein schnäppchen. die zwei typen, die das hostel leiten sind ein bschen durchgeknallt, aber (bzw gerade deshalb) sehr nett. Itnernet gabs ksotenlos im hostel.

Strongly recommended. Rooms are clean and well equipped, in a very central position near to everything (pubs, monuments, thermal baths, etc.) far form the noise so that in the night you have no problem to sleep. The owners are really kind and extremely helpful, with their informations and hints one can really enjoy Budapest. I am sure I will be back in Budafest and at the August's in a few months.

We've had a great time here! Jim"s tips are excellent and he"s a very nice guy. The apartment was beautiful, very spacious and located in a funny part of the city. We"ll definitely come back!

We (my boyfriend and me) visited August Hostel a view days ago. First we were a little bit "surprised", because the house looks not so good, then we entered and there was a nice man who explained us that our room is not yet free (we arrived 10 am). But the nice man gave us a bed in a dorm until our room was free, because he remarked that we were tired. The hostel is near the centre of town and consists of various appartements. Our room was a few meters away from the main house. We paid a room without bathroom, but we got one with a bathroom. It was very clean and fully equiped with furnture from IKEA ;) The kitchen was very good, too. It was nice that the hostelman explained us everything about Budapest. Besides there is free internet and telephone (also to other countries). All in all it was super!!

We've been travelling around lots of countries in Europe, staying in a lot of Hostels, and we had by far the best time in this one. The owner (Jim) was a complete and utter LEGEND!!! He literally MADE our trip. If you're gonna stay anywhere, stay here!!

Excellent Appartment not far from the hostel was provided for me and my family. Rooms were large and very clean. Owner of the hostel was very friendly and helpful.

One of the nicest places I've ever been to :)Although you can be little surprised at first :P after unpacking, you feel like home.

Das Appartement ist ca 2 min. vom eigentlichen Hostel entfernt und liegt in einer ruhigen kleinen Seitenstraße. Die Entfernung zum Zentrum zu Fuß ca 5 min.
Sehr zentral gelegen. Die sehr charmante Altbauwohnung ist neu renoviert und schön großzügig. Eine Küche mit Gasherd, Kühlschrank+Gefrierschrank sind vorhanden, die man sich mit max. 2 anderen Appartements teilt. Das Bad ist geräumig, mit Badewanne und Waschmaschine! Die Wohnung verfügt außerdem über eine sehr nette Dachterrasse.
Die Crew ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, alle sprechen sehr gut Englisch. Bei unserer Ankunft wurden wir umfassend über Sehenswürdigkeiten, schöne Plätze aber auch Straßen die man meiden sollte informiert. Wer nicht unbedingt eine klinisch reine Unterkunft sucht ist mit diesem Appartement bestens bedient. Es war eine sehr schöne Zeit und wenn wir wiederkommen ist das August Hostel die erste Adresse!!

Really nice place, just out of the centre of town. The owner was very nice and he showed us the places to go and avoid. We booked a private room and ended up staying just over the road from the main hostel in a separate apartment, which was great. Recommend.

I booked a private room with bathroom. I got a very big room and a nice and very clean bathroom.
It was on an appartement in Lovag utca (near Terez Korut and Andrassy ut) which is a quiet neighborhood but very well situated.
Public transport (both metro, tram and trolley bus) is within 5 minutes walk and close to the appartement you find everyhting you need (restaurants, cafes, grocery shop, night shop, bank, ATM,...).
Jimmy, the owner, is a very nice and helpful guy.
Highly recommended!

Jim, the owner, was an extraordinary host, full of useful information (on tourist attractions as well as clubs), always trying to help.
He gave us a map of Budapest the moment we arrived, and took about 20 minutes to tell us about the major landmarks, how to get to them and warn us about the "dangers" of Budapest.

I felt just like at home in the hostel. Coming from France and being cautious, first I booked 7 days, and because it was so nice, I wanted to stay absolutely in the same hostel, for another 5 days. How to say things better? Jim, the owner, is a wonderful person, I'm glad to have met him. He made his best to make you feel at ease. Not because of plain commercial reasons, but because he's a "good guy", a man of big human qualities, with a strong sense of human relations. Thank you for your constant attention, Jim!

Jimmy is hands down the best hostel manager I have run into in my vast European travels. Not only did he take the time to show us where to and not to go in the city, he warned us of scams that tourists often fall prey to. If you are going to Budapest, August Hostel is the best place you could ever want to stay!

as a couple we shared an appartement with other tourists we never met. we had our own private bathroom. the kitchen can be used for any meals as breakfast isn't included.the flat is well situated on the pest side, close to a metro station adn not far from the touristic places by walk.
the owner is very helpful and gives us tips about the city, even restaurants and bars address.
a very nice place to stay, it is just not so clean....

The owner jim had a vew good advises for checking out Budapest, very helpful. Friendly atmosphere in an really old house.
Internet use was for free and when I needed something there was friendly help.

nice hostel with crazy jim and his masterplan. beds were fucking perfect!ps. i heard that you can buy calenders which shows which day we have...but i'm not sure about it....

Great hostel; individual, friendly, easy-going. Owner Jim + Sherman are extremely helpful + generous. It's a budget place (i.e. cheap), so don't expect top notch standards - but do expect atmosphere, human kindness, freedom galore. Feels like a good friend's home rather than a hostel. Recommended!!!

We've been a group of six girls and we had a great time there. Jim, the hostel owner, was such a nice guy and he gave us every information we needed about Budapest, so we had a wonderful time. It's been a familiar atmosphere in the hostel and we just can recommend this hostel to everyone else. You'll have a fun time!

El dueño, Jim, es un tío genial. Nos prestó moneda húngara el primer día, nos dió un mapa y nos hizo muchísimas recomendaciones sobre la ciudad. Tuvimos que quedarnos un día más en Budapest y nos buscó otro alojamiento porque él estaba completo. El sitio no es gran cosa pero está limpio, tiene conexión a Internet y permite llamar gratis a fijos españoles.

everything was perfect! esta muy bien situado y es verdaderamente acogedor. Un trato excelente y divertido. Limpio y seguro (nunca llegamos a usar candados para el equipaje). Te sientes verdaderamente como en casa. Sin duda volvere aqui siempre.
