Miami Hotel was established in 1965 during the Vietnam War. During that period, there are many American army (GI) in Bangkok. To warm welcome them as far a ways from home, many hotels in Bangkok used the city name America such as Miami, Florida, Atlanta. Why Miami? Just another coincidence, we got the first Miss Universe as Thai Citizen. The contest was organized in Miami that year. Since then, the name Miami became popular among Thais and foreigners.
