Happy Buddha Hostel

The best hostel in Kiev. I recommend this place!!!Friendly staff, safe place, clear place.

This hostel is a disaster. The one woman from the reception was rather a prison warden than a receptionist. She used to run into your room without knocking anytime she wanted but this was peanuts compared with other tenants: there is a room with a balcony and she made the smokers from the whole hostel go through the room and use the balcony for smoking without asking the permission of the tenants living in this room. The poor guys, they must have felt rather in a train station rather than in a hostel room. Nice: this was the very first hostel where they close the kitchen (!) over night. What a moronic thing to do. But my personal favorite was that: I shared a room with a 20 year old ukrainian girl, a model or something, who whas completely out of her mind. I asked her once to put on the conditioner for at least 30 minutes -

it was very hot and the device was above her bed. She refused saying she didn't want to get cold like once lying under the AC. I asked, why then she wouldn't change the bed, there were enough free beds in the room, she said

- and I am citating - she was "lazy" to do that. So she kept staying at her place but didn't let you use the conditioner. I said to her that it was wrong and insisted on finding a solution for all of the tenants in the room. As a result she started insulting me in a complete insane manner. It was a real verbal orgy so crazy and loud that everyone in the hostel could hear it. But that was ok for the receptionist. She didn't even think to do anything about that. Ironic: the place is covered with moronic sayings spread all over the walls like "your freedom ends where another begins". To sum it up: if you like to live in a place with a prison like atmosphere with a personell lacking any respect towards the tenants, than you should try this hostel. Otherwise look for something serious. I can recommend the "Gari's" next to the station Klovskaya.
