About us
Come partake in a true boutique hostel experience on Uruguay's spectacular Rocha coast. Celebrating its seventh year, El Diablo Tranquilo provides a wide variety of accommodations, services, adventures, and memories to travelers of all styles.

Whatever your preferred method of travel, The Hostel is sure to offer what you're looking for. Even before choosing your lodging find yourself at home in our spacious lobby, surrounded by 16 foot high windows looking seaward, a massive fireplace.

Accommodation
You can choose between mixed or female dorms, private singles, doubles, triple, or - for a real treat - book yourself into one of our suites and enjoy a private fireplace, full bath, ocean views, and your own balcony to doze away enveloped in a hammock.

Above you'll find a lofted internet lounge and beyond that the intricacies of our traditionally woven thatch roof. Additional communal areas include several terraces, a kitchen, book nook, and the picnic balcony.

Services and activities
If that's not enough - rent a horse, a surfboard, or a boogie board, a bike or hike out to the Forteleza of Santa Teresa, explore the Bosque de Ombues or the Laguna Negra, spend a day volunteering with marine turtles at Karumbe or take yoga classes - just get out here and experience El Diablo Tranquilo!'

Surroundings
One block away from Playa del Rivero, cross the dunes to find the stretched out Playa Grande and enter Santa Teresa National Park. We are 40 kilometers away from Brazil and a 5 hour comfortable bus ride from Montevideo.
