OVERVIEW

For Eco-conscious travellers, off the beaten track in Patagonia. A lovely and colourful eco-hostel in the countryside. Near Carretera Austral, among native forest and with lago General Carrera in front.

This is an ecological and educative project about sustainable life. Here you might learn, experience and get inspired with new ideas about recycling, renewables, solar cooking, organic agriculture, permaculture...

WHY ECO ? Because we live in a sustainable way, so staying with us means you will cause lowest environmental impact in Patagonia, helping to protect the pristine nature of this region.

WE ARE LOCATED 100 Km WEST OF CHILE CHICO, IN PUERTO GUADAL: it is about 2 hours by bus from Chile Chico.

Daily buses from Chile Chico, Coyhaique, P.Tranquilo, Cochrane and Los Antiguos (Argentina).

THE ECO HOSTEL:

Lovely and colourful eco hostel with only 2 rooms. You might choose between:

-The Dorm with Lake views, bright and spacious. Bunks with reading lamps, duvets and confortable beds. Also with private eco-toilet.

-The Twin room with garden and mountain views. Cozy and colourful. Two confortable single beds with reading lamps and duvets. Also private eco-toilet non en-suite.

Besides, you will enjoy the bright guest kitchen and living room.

- Eco-Kitchen: For saving energy and learning, we use the parabolic sun cooker, the solar oven and the hay box. Soon we will build an eco-fridge.

- Eco-Toilets: We use composting toilets, solar showers and we reuse grey waters for irrigation.

-Tent 4 Rent: If hostel is full, meanwhile you can rent a tent with bed linen. Max. 2 people

WHAT TO DO
Puerto Guadal is a beautiful and quiet village at the lakeside where you can explore the off-the-
beaten-track surroundings. Using Puerto Guadal as "base camp" you can take various day trips to visit the highlights around General Carrera lake. Just take a local bus and be back by evening. You can visit Puerto Tranquilo (Marble Caves), Puerto Bertrand, Baker river (rafting), Cochrane (Valle Chacabuco) and Chile Chico.

LOCATION INFORMATION

WE ARE LOCATED 100 Km WEST OF CHILE CHICO, IN PUERTO GUADAL : it is about 2 hours by bus from Chile Chico.

We are 1,5 Km from Puerto Guadal, on the Camino Laguna La Manga road (at the exit of the village towards Chile Chico).

Puerto Guadal is on the southern shore route of General Carrera lake which connects the Carretera Austral (cruce El Maiten) with Argentinian Ruta 40 (via Chile Chico - Los Antiguos border crossing).

In Puerto Guadal itself there are several services: supermarkets, restaurants, internet, gas station..
