The Dickson Backpackers is an independently owned and operated hostel in Canberra's north and was established in 2008. The hostel sleeps a maximum of 80 people in 4 and 6 berth dormitories.
We are located in a public transport 'hub' with buses running frequently from Dickson into the city centre and ANU, and on to the Parliamentary Triangle, as well as to Belconnen (to University of Canberra, the AIS and Bruce Stadium) and Gungahlin dropping off at Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC).
We are nestled in the heart of Canberra’s China Town, 3.5 k north of, and only a six minute bus ride from the city's centre. Great facilities close by include the Dickson Shopping Centre, restaurants, bars, gyms, public library(free internet), most major banks and a public swimming pool.

We cater for short stays, individuals and groups, as well as a limited number of longer term stays (conditions apply approach hostel directly for stays over one week)

Hostel facilities include air conditioned/heated rooms (linen provided, towels available for hire), a fully equipped kitchen (crockery and cutlery available for hire), a great common room with half size pool table and free to air digital TV, barbecue on the back deck, and self service laundry. We have a small selection of books (book exchange),access to hire of DVD player, board games and Wifi (prepaid) through Everywhere Internet.
Alcohol is limited on premises to no more than 2 standard drinks before midnight and none after midnight.

We also require a minimum of 24 hours notice for reservations and an estimated time of arrival (ETA) and mobile phone contact number is required.
Check in time is between 10.30 am and 10.30 pm only unless agreed in advance with the hostel. Checkout time is no later than 10 am or the hostel may charge for an additional night's accommodation. Guests must be over the age of 18 years unless in the care and control of a parent or legal guardian whilst on site. Photo id is required on check in and a copy will be retained by the hostel as a part of the registration record.
Cancellations and no shows: Guests must supply an expected time of arrival(ETA) between 10.30 am and 10.30 pm. Failure to arrive by the ETA may result in the guest being deemed a no show, unless the guest has contacted the hostel prior to that time to advise a later arrival. No shows will be charged for the first night's accommodation. Cancellations or alterations to reservations will require a minimum of 48 hours advance notice or the hostel may cahrge in full for the first night. Checkout before the booked date also requires 48 hours notice or the hostel may charge for the full amount of remaining accommodation.
