Bungalow Bay Koala Village is a large, friendly, clean and stylish YHA backpacker's hostel, set in the heart of the National Park. This multi-award winning hostel is easily accessible from Townsville and just a short walk from some of the most beautiful beaches on Magnetic Island.

Bungalow Bay is Australia's only hostel that has an onsite Koala Sanctuary for you to enjoy. Wake up to Crocs and Koalas near your private A frame bungalows set throughout a magnificent seven acre property.


Bungalow Bay offers an eco friendly stay to guests in true island style accommodation. All accommodation is in A frame Bungalows that are in a natural bush setting complete with wallabies, curlews and an array of other bird life.

Unique Bungalow accommodation sets the mood for our eco conscious traveller in a relaxed environment.

A range of Bungalow Accommodation is offered including Double and Twin Bungalows with Shared bathroom or ensuite doubles.

Bungalow Bay offers guests all the facilities to stop and enjoy the island environment for two nights through to a seven night stay.

Enjoy the Deck Bar in the evening's with nightly activities including Bingo, Coconut bowling or Trivia. Wifi is offered on the deck area, Campers Communal Kitchen, Tour Desk + onsite wildlife sanctuary offering three daily guided tours and Breakfast with the Koala's on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday mornings between 8.30am - 10am.

Magnetic Islands unique landscapes offers protection to its unique flora and fauna as two-thirds of the island is National Park. The island is home to Northern Australia’s largest colony of koalas living in the wild being accessed on the popular forts walk offering breathtaking views and the chance to spot a Koala in its natural eucalypt environment.
