THE STRUCTURE
The word “Pugliese” doesn’t refer to the geographical region, but is the first owner’s surname, who commissioned the building in the 19th century. It has been inherited by his descendants up to now. It was built on two floors and surrounded by a wall which also included two orchards, a back and a large front yard. The material was the local white stone that was also used for the floor and the barrel vaults. The works of restoration were started in 2009 by Erminio Pugliese, the present owner, who preserved the original architecture of the building. Fireplaces, wells, terraces, thick walls are charming traces of the past. The structure is set in a huge plantation of olive trees (about 37 hectares) and a wood of mediterranean bushes.
