Urban Holiday Lofts

The hallways leading up to the Lofts smelled horribly of garbage. We told the attendant the next day it smelled of garbage and lysol.

Attendant was not very helpful when we had an issue with check-out.

Wifi was spotty in room, had 3 networks but could only consistently connect to 1. A single room is not a bunk bed that has been only booked for 1. A continental breakfast is not bagels, coffee & cereal. Bed was too stiff, pillows too flat.

Great healpful staff at the front desk. Really appreciated the secure bag storage the day of our check out.

Truly excellent place to stay. Recommended and would definitely use again.

I loved staying here and would definitely recommend. The only complaint I have is that the prices were a little inflated (but I did stay over the Labor Day Holiday weekend) but the location was great and I loved Wicker Park!

the positives of this place are awesome location, and great staff. the negatives are the noises from every direction (upstairs, downstairs, hallway, alley).

I just had some bad experience with the bathroom. One of the guests did not care about others using the bathroom after him/her...

Staying at Urban Holidays Lofts was a great experience, and I would recommend them to anyone passing through the Chicago area. Thank you to the great staff working there as well, who were super friendly and gladly assisted my group with an any questions we had.

The building and location itself is really nice! Obviously this place caters to the hipster scene, but even if you're not a hipster it's still enjoyable.

I am fairly certain that I was attacked by bed bugs in this hostel. I stayed there for 3 nights in late August. After the second night I noticed bites all over which looked a lot like bed bug bites (in that there were a row of 2 or 3 next to each other). I reported this to the front desk twice and I felt that they didn't take my complaint seriously. They tried to convince me that they were spider bites and they told me that they had investigated and treated my bed but there was no evidence that anything had been moved. They treated me like I was lying to start trouble for them. They did give me a new room on the 3rd night but I wouldn't recommend this hostel because I don't think that they take bed bug risks seriously.

Good location. However, it would be nice if the blankets were washed, at least when there are visible blood stains. They have a cover sheet to go between you and the blanket, but it still disturbing. My stay was affected by this detail but otherwise, it was a good stay with a great location.

Great space, great location, helpful people, but not enough bathrooms and showers. And would be nice if there'd be a better way to shut off the air conditioning in individual rooms. Was a bit of a meat locker. Thanks for the stay though.

Other than being a bit pricey for a hostel, overall we had a nice stay. Friendly staff and clean facilities.

Good location, simple and clean rooms, but the breakfast was lacking (at least we need good coffee)

It's not hard or expensive to have a few good items for breakfast other than cereal, like yogurt, fruit, granola, jam, butter, etc. We were always hungry afterwards.

Anyway, overall we were happy with the visit.

I had a lot of fun stying there. The staff was super friednly and the location was perfect as well. I would totally recomment this hostel!

It's a great place to stay. I love the upcoming district Wicker Park and the building which is a former factory. Everything is new and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. All in all, I can only recommend Urban Holiday Lofts.

Ótima localização, pertinho do metrô blue line (que é 24h) e num bairro fino, cheio de lojinhas fofas, cafés e restaurantes. Os quartos são bem claros e quentes. Hostel todo novinho, limpo, atendimento simpático. Recomendo. Lembrar de levar adaptadores para a tomada, pois a entrada é apenas quadrada, e não redonda.

We definitely enjoyed our stay. Excellent location due to Bucktown's many eateries, bar and nightlife. It was quiet during our time at the Hostel would definitely stay here again next time.

The market downstairs was super convenient with super good food. Everyone in the staff was really cool, helpful, and not too hard on the eyes if you know what I mean. I would definitely stay here again when back in Chicago! Fine holiday fun;)

Everything was great. Only a minor dissatisfaction with bathroom cleanliness but that's due to other guests and not the hostel itself. Also, our room had east-facing windows which meant it got incredibly hot early in the morning and it felt like the AC had been turned off.

I had a great time in Chicago, and big part of that was because of the good location of the hostel and the great tips I got from the boys at the desk! I recommend and would stay again!

Hostel is very easy to get from airport. I arrived after midnight and there was no problem. Hostel located in nice area with bars and restaurants. It's not far on the tube to downtown or $10 in a can to go out at night. Found the rooms to be noisy at night in hostel and didn't sleep very well in dorm. Many children staying in hostel and they took over free computers in lounge area. Nice vibe in hostel and good free breakfast. Hostel would benefit from a notice board with events happening in the city e.g I came on a few free outdoor concerts in millennium park etc which the histel could have informed about. Hostel would also benefit from organised events e.g. Tour of good bars in the area etc., tours of local neighbourhoods etc. These tours make it easier for people travelling on their own to make friends.

one staff member was very rude and unprofessional, also we booked a 5 bedroom room that only had 4 beds (one was marginally bigger) and they are totally lying about having a rooftop.

This was our first time starting at a hostel-type hotel. It was a good experience. Loved the neighborhood and the staff was knowledgeable and helpful with their recommendations and tips. Also, we loved Olivia's Market on the ground level of the building. Will recommend and come back, when visiting Chicago area again.

We loved this hostel, it was very friendly, great price and an even better location. The building is beautiful and the decor is original and fresh. Everyone was respectful and took care of the place. The breakfast was good as were the communal and laundry facilities. Also no one touched our feet during the night (if you've stayed in a London hostel you know where I'm coming from) that's a plus! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit Chicago.

The only drawback for me during my visit was that my room was right next to the check-in desk so sometimes it got to be a little bit loud. The rooms are not very well soundproofed/insulated! Other than that, it was a really fun and convenient place to stay!

I am a 49 year old female who stayed at Urban Holiday Lofts for one night when I flew into town for the Rolling Stones concert. I was very satisfied with the room. It has the basics. Sharing the bathroom was no big deal. I felt very safe staying there. The breakfast in the common room was nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The neighbor hood was nice with cute restaurants and shops. On the bus line. We took the train from Midway airport and then the subway with no problem. Took the bus to the United Center for concert. Took a cab home. Very easy to get around. The only negative was the very steep stairway leading up to the rooms.

I would definately recommend this hostel. It is located in a very funky neighbourhood with all of the amenities you need close by. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The only downside is that the bathrooms need to be cleaned much more regularly during the day.

Great location! En-suite bath with full-sized bathtub is unheard of in all my years of hostelling! Spotless! Nice comfy bed with good sheets! Only criticism: staff did not knock before entering female only dorm in order to get to extra storage.

This was one of the best places that I have ever stayed in Chicago! It was close to the L and right in the center of what I would consider to be the art district. Great stores and restaurants are located right out the front door. I also loved how safe I felt in a city in which I don't actually live. Highly recommended!

I am an older woman, I felt welcomed, and comfortable here. Best nights sleep in weeks!
