ABOUT YOU

What's your name? Hi Guys! My name is Ewa and I have a blog called Don't Mess With Receptionist which focus on the work in the hostels and the hostel industry.

How old are you? I'm 27 years old.

Which place do you consider home? To begin with: the home is where your heart is. And that definitely means that my home is in my home town: Lodz in Poland, where my family and friends are (or at least part of them that didn't leave town).

What type of traveler are you? I'm not sure if I can put on myself one tag when it comes to the type of the traveller that I am. I like to do solo travels as much as adventures that I can share with my friends. But if I need to hashtag myself then I like to think I'm a hostel traveller and I do hostelling. Many of my destinations are determined by the hostels where I want to work.

What is the first travel that you remember? My very first travel that I can remember is this one: going with a metro with my parents in Vienna and after that visiting Museum of Nature with huge sceleton of a dinosaur.

QUICKLY QUESTIONS

What's your favourite transport? If you ask me about my favourite transport the answer is very easy: my own legs. I could walk all the time when I travel. And trust me, when I explore a new place I always promise myself I will walk less because later I'm just dead but it never happen...of course if I really need to then I take public transport like buses. I don't like metro: I feel really trapped there.

What's your favourite country? My favourite country? Spain. Even thoe I'm always trying to escape from it something always pulls me back. Maybe it's a destiny? I love the style and joy of life that spanish people have. It just suites also to me!

What's your favourite city? My favourite city? That's the taff one. I love Valencia for its chilled, sunny days, for the running path in Turia and for the fact that you can walk everywhere if you need to go somewhere.

What's your favourite beach? My favourite beach is in Poland! In the winter time when there are not too many people. There are many beaches in Poland that are still wild and seems to be undiscovered.

What's your favourite food? My favourite food? Uff there are so many dishes that I love. But for sure the ones that include couscous always capture my heart.

What's your favourite language? My favourite language is spanish of course!

What's your favourite travel book? Unfortunately when it comes to the travel book I do not have my favourite one. But the one that I read often when I travel would be The Little Prince.

Hamburger or Pizza? Pizza!

Do you have a favourite team? Yes, My favourite one is Griffindor in Quidditch :) A musical group you would like to see live? Linkin Park

Favourite movie? And the worst one? My favourite movie? There were so many! But the one that I love since I can remember would be Braveheart. The worst one: Rec. I just don't like horrors.

The most embarrassing song of your iPod? It's hard to say because each of us has different taste in music and what to me is cool to the other might be embarrassing.

QUESTIONS

Have you ever been in a place that has revealed completely different from what you had imagined? If so, how? Unfortunatelly one of the places that disappointed me was Paris. Maybe it was the weather or maybe I was really too broke to appreciate this city. Unfortunately I didn't feel its vibe.

Have you ever had bad experiences during one of your journey? If we are talking of the bed experiences I did have one indeed. It happened while I was staying in Ibiza. On the beginning the plan was to be there during the summer and work. Since the party side of the island was too much for me and my friend we have bought return tickets and rented a car to visit other part of the island. Our happy journey finished few hours later when someone decided to steal our luggage from the car's back. So we were left in our swimming suites, dresses and (fortunately) bags with money. However all our clothes, netbooks and passports dissapeard. Now it is just a funny memory and I still like the hippie side of Ibiza!

What is your favourite place? My favourite place is the north of Spain. I completely lost my heart to its ocean, cliffs and green everywhere!

And what do you do when you, for a reason or another, are not on a trip? What I do when I'm not on a trip? I work in hostels! It's just that my type of work makes me being on the constant trip! I always stay a while in each place so I can discover it completely!

Could you imagine your life without travelling? Yes, I can imagine my life without travelling but you know what?...What for? I have only one life so if I have already fall in love in travelling once, why should I live without it?!

Where and when did you start to share your experience? I have started to share my experience a few months ago. After working some time in hostels I have noticed that there are still so many people who imagine hostels as a grumpy places. I just wanted to show that it is exactly opposite. And apart from that...world would be a better place if all of us could learn to share. Exactly how it happens in the hostels everyday.

Why would you suggest to our readers to follow online your adventures? Why your readers should follow me? Well if they want to check out how it is to work in the hostels, see the funny side of this job, check out some amazing hostels and get some tips? Well I guess thats why.

What was your photo, article or post that had more success? One of the posts that had the best exit is becoming now a series: „The Receptionist Diary”, which are my notes from my everyday hostel worker life. True life stories are always the best stories!

What did the travel teach you? And what is the most important lesson that you can share? Wow, there are so many things I have learned while travelling. But the most important that I would love to share with you is to be yourself and to be honest (to yourself and towards the others).

If you win 10.000$, but you can’t spend them on travels, what would you do? If I would win 10.000$ and couldn't spend it on travel I would definitely bought cute house for my parents wherever they would wish to have one!
