About us
The GreenHouse is a brand new hostel that opened for Halloween of 2016. When the patrimonial house that was built by one of the partner´s grandfather became available, opportunity knocked. The house was built in the 1950´s, when Bolivia was undergoing one of Latin America´s three most important revolutions (after the Mexican and Cuban). The house is a beautiful example of Sopocachi´s architecture. The space is full of sunlight, with large windows and a covered patio with a grill and bar
Accommodation
The GreenHouse has 8 rooms in two floors. There are 3 shared rooms, 3 rooms with bunk beds for two persons and 2 private rooms with double beds. All rooms are shared bathrooms, with seven showers in total. We provide linen and towels. There is a large 49” TV in the patio, with a bar and bbq grill.
Services and activities
The patio is a large greenhouse, which captures the day’s sunlight and keeps the atmosphere warm, for a beer or nightcap, with a great 200 gram burger or sizzling steak (other food options available, including pizza and bbq ribs). Free breakfast consists of bread, butter, jam and tea, coffee or coca/chamomile infusion. Free WiFi. There are great pubs in Sopocachi, as well as sightseeing vantage points, such as “El Monticulo”, a short five block walking distance. We have an in-house travel agency.
Surroundings
The Greenhouse Hostel offers confortable and affordable accommodation in Sopocachi, the most strategically located neighborhood in La Paz. Sopocachi was a premier location in the 1950´s, where the wealthy Bolivians built their homes. The Greenhouse is three blocks away from the Yellow Line cable car connecting Sopocachi with the southern part of La Paz, as well as with El Alto. In Sopocachi you will find great parks (El Monticulo, Plaza España, Plaza Abaroa), pubs, restaurants, local markets...
Why should you stay with us
Sopocachi is the SoHo of La Paz, with a very bohemian atmosphere and interesting, artsy people walking the streets. It has breathtaking views of the city, such as the lookout point in “El Montículo”. We are surrounded by police stations and governmental offices, NGO´s, making it a safe neighborhood. Our patio is a great plus for those seeking a place to chill out and relax after a long day of sightseeing. We are strategically located, close to the city´s center (north).
