About us
rake Bay Backpackers is a small non-profit hostel offering affordable lodging and food, genuine community-based tourism activities, and a rustic jungle setting in the quiet village of El Progreso, Drake Bay. Until now there has been no budget accommodation available in Drake Bay, making Costa Rica’s most intact and beautiful primary rainforest too expensive to consider visiting for many travelers. Accommodation
Our 12-bed dorm features 6 semi-private twin (bunk) rooms, each equipped with mosquito nets, shelving, under-bed storage, clothes lines and lamps. The dorm also features lockers (padlocks not provided) and ceiling fans. See prices below.

Private Rooms
We offer two private rooms, one single and one twin (bunk). Both are equipped with shelving, lockers (padlocks not provided) and large fans. Private rooms are shared-bathroom only.

Meals:
For hostel guests:
We offer a menu for breakfast and a family-style set evening meal. Vegetarian and vegan options are available and meals are prepared from locally-sourced ingredients. Guests are required to give prior notice if they wish to dine with us in the evening. The kitchen is also available for use for self-catering guests. A lunch menu is not offered.

For homestay guests:
Three meals per day are provided. Vegetarian and vegan options are available
