what a lovely casa! The house owner is such a sweet and caring lady. I got sick during my vacation and she took care of me like a mom. I can only recommend the house. One thing i didnt liked was that we did notget a key for the house. There was always somebody to open the door for us, doesnt matter which time we came home. Its very close to the center and the Malcon. I felt save there and would defenetly go there again!

Isabel was lovely, great breakfast, lots of advice, lovely cheap cocktails in the evening. She booked the other Casa's and shared taxis for our week touring around Cuba. Thanks Isabel, we will stay here again when we come back through Havana

Great place - great host. Very nice good service and breakfast. We had booked 3 rooms and only one was available when we arrived. Isabel had arrange 2 rooms in other casa, but not OK when we had received confirmation for 3 rooms.

We couldn't reccomend Casa Isabel enough, the reception we got was fantastic from the family. Shamefully we speak little Spanish but still managed to have some conversation, we were made to feel very welcome. We have recommended to friends who stayed also, it's location is a bit of a distance from the tourist parts giving you the experience of the real Cuba. If you are looking for experience and authenticity then a walk around the streets here is a must, the people were so friendly in the neighbourhood. It often took me a while to get around as I stopped so often to chat to the locals. A short distance to the Malecon you can walk to the central tourist locations, or grab a taxi particular for a small cost.

Ridiculous!! It is not where it says it is on the map it's much further away. Also upon arrival, having made a booking 6 months previously. They had no idea we were coming "Isabel never told me you were coming" and as such hadn't kept beds for us and were trying to send us to their friends casa which was further away again and were also just rude. Had to find somewhere else to stay- would recommend Rolando's backpacker.

Location is good if you want to do a bit of exploring off the beaten path. Strange thing was that the toilets didn't have toilet seats when I was there. Breakfast was 4 CUC per person per day. It's kind of high but it beat looking for food in the morning. Breakfast was a plate of fruit, eggs, bread, juice, and coffee. Also, all the rooms share a common hallway which is partially open to the outdoors. It's hard to explain and it's not really a big deal though. But you will hear Isabel and her family talking very loudly. it didn't bother me too much and they usually quiet down by 8PM.

ncorrect attitude when booking with breakfast, it was refused. They wanted to pay extra. After categorical refusal on our part, the breakfast was coffee and banana. We were called up fees, which we had not ordered and the like.

The rooms are clean, but without windows, with a common corridor in the middle of that has carved a jacuzzi. It's very dangerous when crossing the corridor.

The owner speaks Spanish and English speaking need to cry, which definitely creates difficulty.

Near the hostel is bad, though located near the Malecon, but far from the center.

I would rebooking again.

I am very sorry to say that, but it was the most disappointing experience I have ever had with the booking websites and, in this case additionally, - with casa in Cuba. We've travelled for 3 weeks around Cuba, have seen and stayed in many casas, but our first one, in Havana, was a shock for 3 nights. We were too tired and inexperienced in the beginning to find something better right away. We've learned a lot.

First of all, the photo nr. 1 is from another address, a couple of buildings away, Animas 966, you will have breakfast there (Isa herself is living there and renting some rooms there too - under the same booking name "Casa Isabel").

The casa on Animas 956 has 2 rooms WITHOUT a private bathroom (Hostelsclub, please change it for the other tourists' sake to "shared"). For the bathroom you need to go downstairs, pass the weird old guy (mostly) sleeping on the coach (showed on photo nr.9). And the bathroom is dirty. You do not want to use it. The old guy switches off the water supply for the day so imagine the toilette by the evening. Disgusting.

One more thing to mention - you will get the key to the room only, so you will need to knock on the outer door and pray that the guy can hear you.

The casa is incorrectly showed on the map - it is on Animas between the streets Soledad and Oquendo (attn. Hostelsclub).

*********

Stay away from this casa! There are other options for the same price.

We had an excellent experience at Isabel's house. The room was very clean and comfortable, we looked forward to the delicious breakfasts every day and Isabel was extremely helpful. You can come and go as you please and someone is always there to answer any questions that you might have. We stayed for three nights and then traveled for a week before returning to Havana where we stayed one more night at Isabel's house. We were able to leave some of our things there while we traveled. They clean the rooms each day. They are very trustworthy and you can feel comfortable leaving your money/valuables in your room which was very important for us because as US citizens we couldn't access money in Cuba and had to carry a large amount of cash with us. We would definitely go back and highly recommend staying at this casa particular.

During my trip to Cuba, Isabel seemed to be the most helpful and nice person. 100% recommendation. Do not hesitate to try Isabel's breakfast - each morning we got new, amazing juice prepared by Sandra - Cook Chef! I already miss the atmosphere of this casa.

People are ready to help with information. Good space in the bedroom and clothes are clean, but toilet is in a different floor. One of the rooms is tinny and is to be avoided. There is no internet conection as it is suggested. Location is good to get to know other places than the Casco Historico but it is more difficult to come back at night.
