Casa Leonel y Amarilis

Amarylis and Leonel are both hosts here. Around the house it is mostly Amarylis but Leonel came by for a talk and took us to a "cigar farm" in his own car (41 year old Lada!). We had a great stay and felt very welcome.

We actually stayed in Casa Felix at the back of Leonel and Amarilis - maybe the casa hosts are related. I have marked it down slightly for cleanliness because we were there for 3 nights and no cleaning or tidying was done which was unusual. Also the bottom sheets were slippy flat sheets instead of cotton fitted sheets so they came away in the night exposing a dark mattress, not that it was dirty, but I think you want to sleep on clean sheets not a mattress. The casa was special because it had a little garden with fruit trees (with a hummingbird), a hammock and a lovely dining area. Felix made us a lovely complimentary mohito. Very friendly as all the hosts were.

Leonel was by far our most welcoming and generous host. Not only did he pick us up from the Viazul bus station (we didn't even know he was coming), but he also offered to drive us around Vinales so we could see as many places as possible in our one day stay. He knew a couple of nice hidden spots and always reassured us to take our time exploring, even though we felt bad for him having to wait for us all the time. Unfortunately, we woke up with a fever the next morning, but Leonel gave us some medication which worked wonders. Mirelis is an amazing chef, and her mojitos were one of the best we've ever had. The room was just right for the two of us, the fully stocked fridge was definitely a plus, and the patio is beautiful - you can watch the sunset and sunrise from up there! We 100% recommend this casa, Leonel and Amarilis are such wonderful people, definitely book your next stay with them! Oh and even though we didn't speak much Spanish, Leonel made it somehow work to talk to us with gestures and signs, which was funny and amazing.

During our round trip this was the least casa. The breakfast was good. The room was clean, but very small.

Leonel pushed too much to book an excursion, when we just arrived. We booked a private hiking tour, but the guide was not super.

We had a really nice stay at Casa Leonel & Amarilis. The family were lovely and extremely helpful. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Leonel and Amaryllis were the most fabulous hosts - we arrived in vinales from the airport and immediately felt like family. Although we speak very little Spanish, they were very articulate and easy to understand! They arranged lots of trips for us like collectivos to the beach, bikes to ride etc. The room itself was comfortable and the lower terrace is great for eating, while the roof terrace is wonderful for sunrise and sunset. Would highly recommend - every traveller we met there raved about Leonel and Amaryllis.

we cannot recommend this casa. They accepted our reservatiuon but soon after they sent an email that they were overbooked and that his brother nextdoor ( :) ) had room for us. On any communication from our side they did not answer. So we decided to stay in the casa from his brother. Which was definately different.

What we didn't like at all was that they were pushing us (just arrived) to book an excursion (which we already had booked , so no use pushing us) We felt quite uncomfortable.

So, be aware. I thinkthey give some bookings to their brother who is not registered on hostelsclub.

Hands down best casa to stay in! Leonel and Amaryllis are the sweetest couple and cook great meals. The room was just the right size,spotless and cosy. Would go back in a heart beat!

Lovely hosts. We would have loved to eat dinner at the Casa , rhe reviews were very Good, however, Amarilles was recovering from an operation.

Although there are probably 1000 casas in Viñales, 'Casa Leonel y Amarilis' is really recommendable. The room is clean, comfortable and the airconditioning is fine. The owners are lovely and love to have a chat! They also make nice dinner and breakfast and are able to help you with whatever you need help for! Really recommendable.

Leonel and Amarilis are lovely people and wonderful guests. The house is very nice with a peaceful terrace with a view on the Valle del Silencio. The room is very clean, the food is great (and a lot), but most of all Leonel and Amarilis will do everything to help your stay: book tours and arrange taxis at fair prices, provide tips and have a nice chat about Cuba! Best Casa we had in our holiday!

Leonel and Amarilis are very friendly, they are always available for anything you need. Food is good, the pollo tropical made by Amarilis! The rooms have a fantastic and quiet terrace, location is 5 min walking from main place.

Leonel y amarilis are wonderful and warm people who make you feel very welcome. The room came with a terrace outside with à very Nice view! Breakfast is great as well as dinner (lobster was very good!) Also they have a fridge on the terrace for their guests filled with drinks (Beers/coke/wine etc.) so no need to leave the house ;-) we had a great time here and definately recommend their house and superb hospitality!
