Budget Hostel Newcastle

Directions (how to arrive at the hostel):

From Monument or St James Metro Station:

Take bus 39 or 40 towards byker or Wallsend. Single ticket (GBP 2.30) Day ticket (GBP 3.80) Ask for shields road. Once on the bus, after about 5 - 10 minutes you will pass over byker bridge. It is 1 stop from here. When you see shields road get off out side morrisons after the bridge on your right hand side(there is a sign) or Premier (small convenience store with yellow sign) on left hand side; we are there budget hostel you should see sign .

From Train Station or coach station: Your coach may drop you off at St James Boulevard or outside the train station.
From St James Blvd: walk 5 minutes past the Life Centre to the train station.

From Train Station:
On Foot: 10 minute walk up Grainger Street to Monument: Statue of Earl Grey: Take bus 39 or 40 (See above)

By Bus: From Train Station: Cross road to other side. Take bus 22 towards byker. Buy a Transfare single ticket: Zone One(GBP 3.10) or a day ticket (GBP 3.80) on the bus. After about 10 minutes on the bus you will pass go over a bridge. Get off here. If you miss the stop don't worry you can get the bus from the next stop. From the same bus stop that you got off the first bus or nearby bus stop: take bus 39 or 40 towards byker (Show the ticket you have bought on the first bus) Get off get off out side morrisons (See above)

Transfare tickets: Get off at Byker Metro, turn left past some shops onto the high street (Shields road) that is where we are look for sign

By Metro: From inside train station: Look for the big 'M'. From ticket machine: Either buy GBP 1.70 single ticket (Zone A) or Transfare ticket Z1: Zone One : GBP 3.10 (this is also valid on the bus): Take Metro train towards Monument, then change to metro towards South Shields via the coast. Make sure that its Byker then so minutes walk to hostel from there.

From Newcastle Airport: Take Metro. Buy 'All Zones' for GBP 3.20 (single ticket) or Transfare GBP 4.10 (this is also valid on the bus)
Take Metro towards Monument. Change to South Shields (Via the Coast). Make sure that Byker is on the list of stations stopping at. Get off at station. It's a 2-minute walk .
You can also change at Monument. Transfare is also valid on the bus.

From International Ferry Terminal / Royal Quays Outlet Shopping Centre: Walk 20 minutes to Percy Main Metro Station: buy 1 zone ticket (GBP 1.70 single) Get off at byker Metro Station (4 stations, 10 minutes on the metro)

Day tickets: If you want to buy a ticket that is valid for one day then you can buy one of the following:
Metro Day Saver (Valid for one day travel on the Metro)
Zone A: GBP 2.50 for Zone A which will take you from the city centre to the hostel.
Zone A - C: GBP 4.40 for Zone A - C: This will take you from the airport to the hostel
Stagecoach Day ticket: GBP 3.80 valid for one day travel on 'Stagecoach company' buses which will take you from the house to Newcastle City Centre and around (Valid all day)
Day Rover: GBP 6.80 valid on all buses and the Metro.
Explorer North East: GBP 9.40 valid for one day travel on all buses and Metro in Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and parts of North Yorkshire and Cumbria. You can travel from Whitby and Scarborough by bus to Newcastle on this ticket.
