Transport connections

For all train and bus line information you will find with HVV, this is the main transport provider for the area. The nearest U-bahn station is called Stephensplatz; it is a 3minute walk from the hostel to that stop and from there eight minutes with the metro to the inner city. Also from dammtor station there is the S-bahn, another line, but which also connects to the inner city and main train station, infact Dammtor is just one stop away from the main station (Hauptbahnhof); From Dammtor in the opposite direction Sternschanze takes about 3 minutes. There is a bus stop just outside the hostel (about 100 metres away): there are two bus lines travelling through taking you to the town hall market (Rathaus markt) main station or harbour city (Hafen city). From the airport: there are many connections, all very frequent. By taxi it takes twenty minutes, but there is also the S1 train (from the airport to Ohslsdorf and from there changing to the U-bahn which takes you to Stephansplatz). The journey is no longer than a half an hour.

Shopping and entertainment

Being in close proximity to the university means that there are many quant shops, bars and cafs within the local area. This creates a great atmosphere and good shopping opportunities. There is also a supermarket very close by. Two doors down from the hostel lies a small and friendly Celtic inspired bar named 'Zum tanzenden Einhorn' here you can get various beverages and great local beers, also in the neighbourhood, there is an Australian bar, it is only four doors away from the hostel, and there you will be met with an authentic Aussie experience, as it is called the 'Downunder' the name in itself says it all. This bar has great food served until midnight with many drinks, not to mention a few Australian beers and a friendly relaxed and fun ambiance.
