Description

as a hotelier member in the centre of Cultural Solo city, currently is enriched its Spirit with a new icon in Eco & Cultural Heritage Consciousness venue located in the city centre and “crowded peaceful village” of Turisari.
The icon called “rumah Turi” Home that stay’s in you” whereby it’s combined the blend of a post modern design and pure traditional touch to fulfill the demand of memorable stay experience.

For first point; Space Arrangement and Culture, in the beginning, rumah Turi is a normal village house located in Turisari. As a normal Javanese village house, normally it’s consist of :
a. Main building like Joglo (semi public area) and latar or free yard (to play and having social interaction)
b. Kebon or garden and sumur or ancient well (normally to do several activities and to plant few productive plantation, such as vegetable and fruits, empon-empon (herbs and spices) as well as flower)
c. Senthong or open space bathing area and paringgitan (but those two are not exist in the building anymore)
d. Dalem or master bedroom and gandhok for children bedroom
In recent time the original design of normal village house has been transformed into rumah Turi nowadays. Then only several adjustments has been made in conjunction with the new needs and functions like rumah Turi in the present time. Few adjustments are :

Public and semi public space are presented by front yard for parking area as well as landscaping. kedai Turi as a public dinning hall, gathering place design community, library, venue for public internet connection whereby its background is a landscape arrangement, plantation filter (sustainable environment), stage for multipurpose usage as well as to show traditional performance. Other material that decorated but having a good function on this area are fruits plants, vertical garden for herbs and spices as well as vegetables that can be consumed by rumah Turi’s guests.

In this circumstances, the function of Joglo, Latar and Kebon have been re-designed to be one compact unity without cutting down the essential of its function but to upgrade it based on its needs that in line with the development of current civilization

Other building is an L – Shape building, lay down from west point to east then from east point to the south / front area. This building is representing as dalem (bedroom) for all guests. This statement is in line with transformation of function from normal village house to a lodging venue.

Second point; Sustainable Material. We highlight few things here; wood – terracotta based items– profile steel. Most of the wood that being used were recycle wood and few numbers are left over wood from a furniture firm. Most of the recycle wood that being used is ex Lobby hotel wood of Sheraton Jogjakarta that condemned due to earthquake that shaken Jogjakarta few years ago. The usage of this wood is purposely for roof skeleton, door – window, corridor deck, interior flooring and most of the furniture inside the room. For terracotta based items, we re-use used terracotta roof cover from lobby hotel Sheraton Jogjakarta then the old roof cover from the old house that not presentable was being made to be powder mixed with cement and waterproofing (water base). The mix was being used as a paint mixing for all walls facing outside. For corridor floor, we also use terracotta that made by local producer. For brick pave way, we use mixed between recycle brick from old building and new ones. In addition the profile steel, that used is coming from the left over of several steel based project.

Entering rumah Turi, you will encounter modern contemporary décor, warm welcome and a best friend smile will be served upon guest arrival in our Security guard post as well as in our counter. To complete the warm welcome a “ Seasonal Jamu” welcome drink will be served as a welcome drink by our Guest Relation Officer or Front Office Crew.

For Executive room guests, the registration activity will be done in the room as one of service to give more friendliness feeling. As we assume that guest is a good friend of ours, we prefer to greet the guest by name instead of greet them by Mr or Mrs.

In the phone conversation it will be always begin with local greeting period of time (e.g. Sugeng Enjing – Sugeng Siang – Sugeng Ndalu). This prefix will indicate that we have something different using local touching.

In term of uniform, we will use customized uniform that will be reflecting a traditional looks. Our front office crews shall not only capable in doing his / her activity. But they will be also “installed” with General Information of Solo. This is being taken to accommodate the tailor made city tour.

As organic plantations are being planted all over the area, the menu will be also reflected a “ Traditional Fusion Healthy “ dishes. Whereby local dishes that being created will be offered not through a menu card but using a black board. To cater another taste of tongue, we also will be providing a grill area to have “Yakitori” style cooking with choices of material and sauces to taste.

Other local dishes that reflected Solo, will be also offered by our staffs. But in this case, we will offer our Business Partner Menu, whereby we will select a local dish business partner that can deliver some dishes an or having a well presented venue for dine in and of course, hygiene.

Our guests will be having their own menu to be served as well. This can be done by asking the guest in the breakfast time about the meal that they need to have for lunch and dinner.

We will be at our maximum to fulfill the needs of the guest meal menu. And when we are going to have a shopping for raw material in the traditional market, the guest may join us to get the experience of shopping in traditional way.

The customized menus are not only limited to food but beverage as well, thus the guest will be having some feeling of having their own kitchen but far away from home.

If the guest missed the time that they have asked for a meal menu, then they may use “post it” sticker that available in restaurant to place their choice of menu.

The buffet will be also reflecting a unique traditional set up. Whereby we plan to use “kendil” instead of stainless steel chafing dish to place some dishes in it.
The bar counter will be also taking a big part in creating the atmosphere of Javanese. Whereby major healthy item will be served and offered here.
