In general recommended. Though from the pictures on the website thought that its going to be more modern.

AD1 House is a disgusting place, located in a completely different location than the address on the website. The basement is adapted to the rooms! Breakfast is served in a cheap bar. I do not recommend! Photos of the room whiche I got for 75Euro per night!

First of all: the receptionist was 25 min late, although it says 24h rec, he is not there all the time. The room was dusty, the bed sheets were used and it smelled like curry all the time. The hostel is not the one you see in the pictures on their website, it's not that pretty but it's nice overall.

The receptionist was helpful and speaks english very well. The wifi was allright, the bathroom was quite clean and if you have breakfast included you will get one coffe and one croissant. Very close to metro station and from train station you can walk. You have to pay a tourist tax in Rome, 2 eur./night/person wherever you stay!

For the price we paid, I think we got what one can expect. But, the room shall, whether you pay a lot or not, be clean and tidy. The shower and the zinc in the toilette was really in bad shape. The “spray” on the shower didn’t work, and fell off several times, and it was a really bad pressure.

I understand, that we paid an overprice for the tourist tax, We should have paid €2/person but paid €6/person. And when I said this to the receptionist, that this wasn’t announced on the internet, she never answered. As we had quite a late arrival, I hadn’t the strength to argue about that…

The breakfast was poor! We had breakfast at a café nearby, to which we got tickets from the Hostel. It included 1 cup of coffee/tea and one croissant. As we are Swedes, we tried to change that to a sandwich for the same cost instead, but it wasn’t possible for some reason…

TV-channels… very poor, just a lot of Arabic, Muslim and Italian channels, about one or two in English, and you had to search through about 500 channels to find them.

I wouldn’t recommend this if you like to have good comfort and like to stay at your room a lot. But, if you, like us, just spend some hours sleeping it was OK.

Clean rooms, close to the train station. Shops, markets, restaurants nearby. Theres no staff at night, but you get the key to the front door. With TV, fridge and small balcony. Nice!

This was an awesome hostel! It is a fifteen minute walk from the Colosseum and only a two minute walk from the nearest metro station.

We stayed in a double bed (there was two of us) and it was plenty big.

The shower was very small, but it really wasn't a problem for us. (We're two females, and I have really long hair - washed it just fine in the space.)

The owner is very accommodating and incredibly nice. We were very thrilled every time we saw him because of how nice he is.

The hostel is also located near Termini station and near many stores and restaurants.

The instructions say to get off at Termini and then walk - but you can just get off at metro stop Vittorio Emmanuele on Line A and you'll be just down the street from the hostel.

Super nice stuff, very helpful, were waiting for us in the night, we could leave our baggage there until our plane. Great location, only a short walk to Colosseo, or you can take the metro, bus. Cute rooms, everything's clean!

I will come back!

It is really cheap and location is fine, there is a station nearby. But when we arrived the hostel, they took us to another address by car(not the address showed on the website)and the staff can not speak English, it was a bit scared for two girls. But the new one is better than the original one, there only two rooms in the flat, and rooms are big. However, there is no internet, we had to go to the main one(the hostel owner says he has four flat)to use it, but it is not far from our flat, and we can use it while having breakfast. And the fee was included the tax(2 euros/ppn).

It doesn't look an Hostel but an house where people host you. I've paid ten euros more because they said that there is a new law in Rome and tourist have to pay two euro more for night but they did'nt write before on the website. The worst thing is that I've found hairs on the bed.

DONT EVER GO THERE! THIS IS THE WORST PLACE IN WORLD! First of all, we arrived there and we were sent to another "hotel" (terrible btw) because there was no hot water in the floor. The other hotel was horrible, very dirty, and staff very unkind. So, second night, we move back to this AD1 house shit, so, it is definitely not safe. It is supposed to be someone 24 hours there, but during noon, sometimes there were nobody at reception desk (it is really a desk, just a desk in front of bathroom). Somebody started to ring the bell at 2 am!!! and nobody to answer it! I even tried to answer, but we saw the main door was open!!! totally unsafe!!! DONT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! it is not allowed to smoke in the hostel, but even the owners and staff used to do it! DONT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! EVER!!!

The location is perfect. Near almost everything you need. The beds could be better. Friendly staff.

For the cheap prices it's a good hostel, but don't expect to much of it, it's simple.

Ratings for "Walters House" - where we were placed when AD1 could not accomodate us due to plumbing difficulties. We were not happy with this hostel and are writing separately with regards to this. AD1 itself looked nice and as expected though we did not stay more than a few minutes to be able to comment.

It is well located, clean, comfortable. In general a very good hostel. But there is no interaction at all between staff and other guests, though this is not to criticize if u like or expecct to meet new peoople in your hostel this is not the place to stay.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 6 nights. This hostel is perfectly located with a subwaystation at the corner, but if you'd like to walk, the Colloseum and the Termini station are just 10 minutes away. The staff is absolutely helpfull and very friendly. And it's not too expensive of course...!

It is a nice place close to a metro station. Tidy for the price, breakfast is italian and served in a traditional espresso bar just around the corner. If I am in Rome again, I will come back.

Rooms are clean, but bathroom could be cleaner. AD1 is perfectly located for all kind of trips: metro, train and monuments in walking distance. Breakfast included which is a big plus in EUR hostels. Overall, I recommend.

- would be nice to have shower-curtains or -walls in the bathroom. then there wouldn't always be a lake after taking a shower

- the locking system for the door with sliding-doors - please a more secure system

- friendly employees

- always everything clean! Good!

- Would be nice to signal it better outside, where the hostel is to be found

we really liked this place. It's more like staying at your friend's flat than at a hostel - the whole place is the size of a large flat (it IS a flat), the rooms have the feel of self decorated student rooms :) Not smack in the centre but close enough to walk to it (and 10 min walk from colosseum), it's a relaxed place to get back to at the end of a long day of sight seeing. Breakfast is very simple, but there's a super very close by with fantastic focaccia and other great stuff you can get cheaply. If you're a young couple seeking decent accommodation with a private room at hostel price, this is the place!

One of the cleanest hostels I've seen. Unfortunately two bathrooms are a little less. The stuff is 24 hours present, helpful and polite, but sometimes a bit unmotivated. AD 1 House position is perfect, you can get to the METRO in 1 minute and most of the sights are reachable by walking.

it was really hard to find the place from the train station . You'd better take a metro (only one stop from the train station) then walk. I took the metro to go the usual tourist spots. I didn't really feel safe around the hostel- it was quite dark. I and my partner stayed in a double bedroom with private bathroom. The room was quite nice but the bathroom smells like a sewer and the shower curtain was way short so it doesn't keep the water inside the shower. Free wifi internet but only works around the reception area. The staff was kind and helpful and told us nice restaurants around the hostel.

The staffs are very kind. I like Venessa, the reception girl who is kind and friendly, we have good memories.

For the rooms, there are different classes of rooms. Most of them are well decorated. But for a 4 people shared room, the atmosphere is not that good. Honestly, it is a little bit crowd, and near the recption, there are many noises.

The transport is quite convenient, you can get every places of interest easily by metro and also walking (Rome is not that large).

The block of the hostel is not so elegant, it seems a mixed quartier, there are many chinese stores, indian stores, etc, though, during the 7 days, we feel it is quite safe, and things are cheap here compare to other stores near the Termini, Colossel, etc.

Position is in the area, where is lot of indian people, but they are ok with any harm.

Rooms could be little cold in winter time especially persons who are get used to heatig of their houses.

Bathroom is without shower curtain, so quite often the floor is like a lake..

Otherwise this hostel is very good place to sleep and staff is great.

The hostel is perfect - clean, comfortable rooms and bathrooms, quite good place - centre can be reachable on foot if walking 15 minutes through park, and Termini station is located 10 minutes walk from the hostel. Metro A line 2 minutes. I loved especially the breakfasts which took place in a bar close to the hostel and consisted of delicious capuccino and croissant :-)

Advantages : it's cheap and close to everything...the staff is JUST GREAT- basic breakfast you take it in small bars around the hostel (which is fun). The place is a little bit clumsy though and only a part of it has been renovated yet-some rooms are claustrophobic and some bathrooms scary but I believe the owners will do their best to improve it :-)

I loved this hostel! the people were really nice and super helpful. It was right in the middle of the city and all the attractions were walking distance. It was clean and the beds were fine. But the people really made it! plus it's only ten euro which doesn't hurt at all. I would definitely stay there again.

It was all we needed. Close to Colloseum and Metro, honest nicely painted room in quiet area, not far from supermarket and breakfast was close and nice. Just the water could pour a bit more and be medium level to use. We had mostly just very hot or freezing cold but it was OK. People were friendly and the place relatively clean.I was happy there.

The staff are awesome, and the hostel is pretty clean and has a good situation for breakfast. It is located close to the coleseum and metro, which was nice, but the area surrounding the hostel was a little dodgy at night.
