Despite what a few other people have said, I feel this was a wonderful hotel and it was conveniently located right at the heart of the Jemaa el Fna square. The employees were wonderful, even with a slight language barrier. I would definitely recommend and I would stay there again.

We loved this hotel. Our only complaint is that it's not actually on the street that the address on Hostelsclub lists. The hotel sends a map that's a little hard to decipher, and we forgot to print that out and it took us over an hour to find the hotel, all the while being harassed by other people trying to "help" us.

Once we found it, however, and the room was charming. There's no heat, and we were there in February, but they provided plenty of blankets, so we were very comfortable. The free breakfast is excellent, and the terrace where it is served is really lovely.

Oh, one other complaint, though--no hot water. That was pretty rough.

Positives:

It's close to the main square, down a little alleyway: it has a wonderful terrace with a big "berber style" tent to relax, chill in the sun, or eat breakfast which is lovely (typical Moroccan).

if you want to experience the Moroccan dream, this is the perfect place - tall, exquisitely renovated and set around a courtyard with massive palm tree! Staff are professional, and you will be left alone.

Negatives:

We requested a high floor but got ground floor - it is dark and very, very cold in these rooms: we had 4 nights but no cleaning, towels, loo roll or bed change. The room was so cold and airless our clothes and the bedding felt damp.View from the terrace is exaggerated, and every time a door shuts, the noise echoes around the courtyard. Great for one or even 2 nights! Not for 4 like we did.

Very sweet staff, nice location and good rooms. The social life is not very hostel-like, but besides that is a perfect place for a couple or a group of friends. If you wants to be more social and meet new friends, the hostel sells some trips to the desert and to the high atlas mountains, where we met a lot of other backpackers.

Cecil Hotel was the best hotel we stayed in Morocco, the location is privileged and it has an amazing panoramic view. The staff is ok, but there is a guy who was specially helpfull with everything. The breakfast is quite enough and also delicious. The only thing we found not in an excellent condition was the bathroom, which is not bad but could be better, nevertheless it was clean. If you are thinking in staying at Cecil Hotel just do it, it is the best choice in marrakech!!!

Very nice hotel, right next to the Djemaa el Fna. Great personnel, very helpfull (even though they speak little English) and always a smile. Room was small but clean. And I absolutely loved the rooftop with couches and view over the Djemaa el Fna. A definate value for money hotel!

It's clean, it's safe, the staff could not be more awesome, they make you feel like a king. It's located at few steps from the principal square and market. The breakfast is delicious. The whole place looks like a palace. The man that organizes the tours is a great person and the tours he gets you are the best in Morocco. My Moroccan hostel for the rest of my life. My recomendation: book it and don't think, you are going to be amazed.

Great location off the square. Hard to find at first, but easy to remember where it was once you located it. They were doing construction to an adjoining lot while we were there, but there was no noise that disrupted us. Breakfast started early and was decent with fresh squeezed orange juice of course.

if you're looking for a cheap hotel in a great location I really recommend it. Simple and clean rooms. Good breakfast on the terrace.

Negative point: the only language spoken by the staff is french.

The -

- there is no “deluxe” room. All rooms are the same. This is a scam.

- the rooms are not heat (during the winter, the temperature in the room is about 10°C, wall are wet).

- there is noise soon in the morning (8AM) because the hotel is in renovation.

- no internet.

The +

- the breakfast on the terrace is perfect.

- the riad is good located (near the Djema Al Fna place)

This is a gusthouse is in a good position with simple but clean rooms quiet despite being close to the heavy square Djeema el Fna. The breakfast on the terrace are fantastic. There is almost always present in, a guide that sells hiking at a good price. Do not miss three days between Berber villages, gorges and desert

Hotel is nice and clean. The location is really great as it is just right in the Medina. Rooms are a bit darker but have private bathroom. Staff was really helpful, very good breakfast, no problems to have it very early. We also left there some luggage when going on the trip. Also it was not difficult to find the hotel first time.
