Hostal La casa de la Plaza

Perfect location for sighseeing Madrid. Rooms OK though the one I had was not as nice as one you could see in some pictures on the hostel website. At least clean and tidy. In fact I boosked a private 3-person room but what I got was a 6-person room with bunk beds (only for my 3-person group), but as I said it was OK for 2 nights. Good Internet access through wi-fi. Clean and nice bathrooms. The only bad point (important for a longer stay though) was the fact there was no kitchen at all, it was even impossible to make tea or coffee so you had to go out to eat every meal. Staff helpful, but there was only one English speaking woman at the reception so communicating the staff wasn't always easy. And no social life at all. Good choice for this price, hope they create kitchen facilities in the future.

was an exceptional hostel in terms of quality however lacked any kind of atmosphere. decent location, walking distance to the station.

The only thing I found very enoying was the terrible noise from the outside and the breaking glasses every night that used to wake us up. Other than that I was quite sattisfied with the stuff and the room I stayed in.

Very nice rooms with a lot of space and good beds! Hotel-like! but the staff speaks only spanish, no word in another language. There's no room where you meet the other people from the hostel. but going out is close and also the (not many) things to see in Madrid... Where no one speaks something else than spanish... so be prepared..

perfect location, you can walk to many of the main sites,Only negative is that it can be very noisy in the early mornings when many are leaving for the airport etc.Only one employee spoke english but she was there most of the time and was very helpful.

Central location. Near of first avenues, royal palace, night clubs and bars.

due to no communal areas in which to sit,you are confined to your room,which is hard to bare if it isasingle one,as they are tiny and windowless.fans are provided,but in Madrid in summer aircon is a must.Staff work long hours and so are not the cheeriest.

The hostel is exactly in the centre of Madrid, back to Plaza Mayor, 3 minute walk from Puerta del SOL, so the location is simply perfect! But the it's not clean, room are very little and many of them with no window at all, there's no air conditioning, no elevator, no breakfast, no vending machines, no Internet connection. At least, the staff is nice. The hostel is perfect if you just use it for sleeping, as I did. PRICES are low, but they CANNOT ask more for this kind of service.

it is very noisy , u can hardly sleep at nite !!paper walls!!there is nothing in the room, not even a chair or a small table , just the bed and a closet.but tv in every room . gusts have tv on even after midnite !! what a nightmare !!the 2, nd day my room was not cleaned up and the bed not even touched !!not easy to find when u arrive in madrid .

Its not a place to meet people. The single room are insane. There is no window, you can here the people when they go to the toilet and everybody is yelling or talking very loud in from of these rooms, even the staff. Its impossible to sleep there, in these conditions. However, it is a nice spot. Near everything.

I think this is the best condition to stay for just sleeping. there's nothing else added, but with almost same price to stay in hostel's dorm, you can stay quiet. So I really appreciate.

Strange smell in some rooms indeed, probably because of the neighbouring restaurant, but not so bad. Overall, great location, clean hostel, recommended.

Pretty bad stink in the hole building with no way to air the room.

The baths were clear and really nice.

Horrible.The room was awful,like in the horror movies.I didn´t expect too much from a cheap hostel,but that marked my existance.A huge hole in the wall,no sheets,no towels,the only place that looked ok was the bathroom.Ugh

THOUGH VERY WELL LOCATED, EXTREMELY NOISY. FLOOR ABOVE WERE UNDER CONSTRUCTION, WORKERS HAMMERING SINCE 7AM. NOISY PEOPLE LIVING UPSTAIRS. DAB SMELL IN ALL COMMON AREAS -STAIRWAYS- VERY SMALL BATHROOMS IN 2ND FLOOR. MOST ROOM WITH NO WINDOWS. TOWELLS ONLY BY REQUEST. DRY BLOOD SPILT ON THE WALL OF MY ROOM #4. NO BEDSIDE TABLE. POORLY LIGHTED ROOM.

Awesome place to stay! very clean, we went with a group of six girls, and we all found to be VERY clean, new, well kept. there were three decent sized washrooms for three rooms of six. The location was great. Two super markets within a couple of steps. the only problem that we encountered was waiting about 10 min in the middle of the night to get let in. Otherwise, we had an awesome time, and felt lucky to have found the hostel.

I did not stay in La Casa De la Plaza as they had problems with the water, the owner moved me to another hostal he owned the other side of the Plaza de Mayor. Called Hostal Paloma which was perfect!

Staff don't really speak english. Our booking was not in their system and they sent us to another hotel. For what we saw it looks clean and it is very well located.

There's nothing that you don't need - that was our first impression:) we got a room with window, and as we saw other rooms, some of them were without.. :/

We stayed for 4 nights, and it was really perfect, I think because we only slept in the hostel, and we didn't expect anything else only comfortable bed and warm shower. The position of hostel is more than perfect, we enjoyed it a lot! I think I would go to the same place if I come to Madrid once more! One little thing, maybe the hostel could provide more information about the city for foregners, smth like posters about events, maps, night - metro possibilities...

Nice small hostel recently refurbished,

upstairs in an old building very well located.

My inidividual room was a tiny one (nor windows neither tv), not noise from the street but from guests inside the place.

It was ok for the price and my only one night stay.
