Description
The 17th century Ksar is located in the basin of Beni Khedache, on the top of a hill alongside the road that leads to Medenine. Thanks to its position and its architecture the Ksar naturally imposes itself as a showcase on the regional heritage.
The Ksar had been abandoned for a long time and today its history reigns thanks to the successful project “Source de nos racines”. The rehabilitation takes place within an action of sustainable development providing long and shot terms solutions for the region through the enhancement of the cultural heritage. As the region suffers from an economic malaise and a difficult geographic situation, the project contributes to prevent the exodus of the native population from the rural area and the consequent desertification of the mountainous desert as well as the sustainment and development of the social economic and cultural networks.
