The location was perfect and the staff was really friendly. They really tried to be helpful but unfortunately it didn't work out too well. It took 3 tries until our key card was finally functioning (which is slightly irritating when your room is on the 4th floor). Also, despite the central locations, the walking directions from the subway are convoluted and non-sensical, look it up yourself on a map before you try to walk it.

excellent location, friendly staff
room was ok but noise isolation was not good enough. i heard someone walk in and out pass my room until late night.
in summary, it's good place to stay

During reservation it was no information that room doesn`t have a window. All other things are real. Perfect location.

This was a very good hostel. I booked a single room, which had a full bathroom, tv with cable, a/c, and internet access. It was really more than what I expected it to be, and it was only 1 or 2 blocks away from the subway station. I would definitely go there again.

Very Good Hostel!! Location is good, walk distance from nanjin rd and the bund.Nice rooftop terras. Staff speaks good enlish and are willing to help with erverything. Private bathroom is very clean. Would defenitely recommand it!

It was a pleasant place to stay with a perfect location for food and transport. The staff are very helpful. There were few insects in my room for the first night though.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is convinient but there was a fight down the street on the second night of my stay.
Some guests tend not to close the door of their rooms and speak very loud, which made an Asian female like me feel very uneasy.
Overall, I am still happy I have chosen The Pheonix and will recommend it to my friends.

difficult to make any kind of arrangements, you need to pay day by day otherwise they call you at 23 o clock when you're sleeping, their english is not that good
