The pictures on the website have not been updated in 5 years. The kitchen is not clean, there is no soap or sponge to clean the dishes. The towels and sheets are broken.

The only regret I have: that I didn't stay all length of my trip at Walter Rooms. I had to compare my stays in Rome:
1. at expensive hotel,
2.and at a mid range hotel,
3.with Walter Rooms.
Walter rooms were better. It just was not looking expensive. But it is not about a looks ,- what is important, isn't it?
1. Most important for me is value for money.
When I was checking out from expensive hotel,- I got VERY high additional bill with city fees and taxes. When I did stay at mid range hotel,- fees and taxes were still steep, on top of linen/towel hire!
Walter rooms city tax was pleasantly low. Partly because it has a lowest price even compare to other hostels.
Your money can stretch for much longer in Walter Rooms.
2. WIFI was 10 times better that in expensive hotel!!!!!! Never had any problems in Walter Rooms. WIFI was a main reason I checked out from expensive hotel. I did try in few hotels and hostels (I had work to do online), - but Walter Rooms was fastest.
3. Location absolutely incredible: short walk to Termini station or couple stops ride on a tram,- from door to door.
A lot of roads in a center of Rome are cobblestone roads. After rolling a suitcases for longer time, to/from other hotels,- I learned to appreciate Walter Rooms,- how short is a walk and how good is a surface of road.
4.Other hostels what I looked in,- did not had elevator. Walter Rooms, - has. (I hate to drug my luggage upstairs.)
5. Walter and his staff were so kind to guests. This review will be too long if I will describe it.
6. It was plenty of free food offered to a guests (even the one what Walter was cooking for himself and his girlfriend!!!).
7. It was very easy to find and to get into a hostel, because:
a) I read ALL email what was send to me after booking. Everything was explained.
b)I put arrival time into my booking. I wrote email and called upon arrival.
It is a small hostel (not a big chain) at a center of Rome,- of cause arrival time has to be organised!
8. Quiet building with thick walls, quiet street. Good sleep at night.
9. Mosquito net on window. Result ,- no mosquitoes in Walter Rooms. My expensive hotel was a nightmare!
10. Hot shower. Ensuite bathroom in a female dorm, so it is no need to get dressed to go to bathroom. Extra bathroom is available in hallway.
11. High ceilings with a thick walls, with fan. Because of it,- one day when it was plus 36 C outside,- it was OK inside Walter Rooms.
Overall it is a 5 stars quality for modest price and modest looking tiny hostel. If you used to big hotels/ hostels,- pay more and book there. I would came back to Walter Rooms. I highly recommend it to others.

When you ask for something (e.g. remote control for air cond., password for wifi), don't believe them, when they tell it doesn't work! Keep on asking. Eventually it always did work. This behaviour of the staff was very disappointing. The rest was ok.

This place was pretty great. I do need to mention that I was moved from one of the houses to another when I first arrived (when Walter found out I was traveling alone, he wanted to put me in a female only dorm in a less busy house, which was thoughtful.) It was right near the metro, had complimentary breakfast, and you cant beat that price in Rome! Walter really cares about the well being of his tenants. It was just a little dingy, but clean. Everything was just well worn, especially in the full kitchen. If you are looking for a comfortable bed, a helpful host,a decent breakfast,and good location, you found your place!

Walter, the owner, asked to me throght his employee to pay 10 euro more because I arrived at 1 a.m. He doesn't make to give to me any receipt about this fee he added.He was not kind by phone.

It's very close to metro vittoria emmanuele and cheap! Very nice view in the window and from balcony
But it's not clean and very cold blanket and just in the room too cold at the winter time. Recommend to take another blanket with you:)

we were 2 girls from the czech republic there in the hostel and we were totally satisfied by what we got for that money..no problem at all although we had to be moved for the last night due to technical reasons..we thank the staff for a nice service!

Pretty good place for that price. Very friendly staff:) Very close to subway. Close to major attractions in Rome. Clean room and bathroom. Breakfast very basic, but sufficient if you have further some of your food. Very small and very loud dining room. You can not sleep when the other guests are using the dining room! You can hear every word, and coffee maker is extremely loud!!! Kitchen is available for guests, but an oven does not work which is disappointing when you have a limited budget. Make sure that you will be in guest house before midnight! After this time you have a problem with the check-in. Despite the small inconvenience I recommend this place.

I'm not sure Why, but I stayed in "Walter guest house". When I went to the address of "Walter Rooms" there are no one in there. So I tried to go "Walter Guest House" and I could Check-in at there and also stayed in there. The B&B was narrow so the reception stands very close from the room. From the reception area the staffs spoke till midnight... As someone else commented, you need to pay another 4€ if you want to use Wi-Fi. Additional 4€ also include the breakfast and use of rocker.

is very close to the termini, and you can walk to the coliseum ( if you like to walk) from the termini you can take a bus number 40( 1 euro) to go to the vatican.. people on the hostel are very friendly

This hostel was so clean. Their staff was cleaning every day and every hour but still have a lot of mosquitos!!.Also free breakfast is perfect!. You can arrive to termini by walking just 5-7 minutes.

The room offered was not as advertised and the place was so filthy and disgusting that I could not even stay there, I had to seek alternative accommodation
Save your money, go somewhere else. Even the street gutter is cleaner.

These person is really liar ,they came late in the night ,when they arrived here they demanded a private indipendent apartment without any else tourists,but they had reserved just a room in an apartment as guest house B&B ,as indicated in my offer.I think they wish a big luxury hotel,not a small B&B as my place,so thay even didn't see the room reserved for them ,but they escape away as thieves,without pay any refund ,because i keep empty the room so I received a big loss.No good people.

The kitchen is possible to use for our guests unless the will clean it completely and ready for other guests.The person in charge can clean it but not every minute,we trust in clean and respectful people.Also we reccommende the guests to cooperate with us ,so to inform us for every need,but theese guests never ask us to clean the kitchen for them.The toilet has the sliding door so the guests should be enough polite not peep the through the bathroom door.The shared room were theese guests reserved is an open space,we privide them a locker cabinet ,so is not possible to lock the room but it shared with other guests.

It's close to the train station and easy to find. The door to the hostel is by Napoleon III street. My room was fine though I didn't get a feeling of it being secure but nothing was stolen so it was fine. It was quite different from the hotels I am used to.

The position of the Hostel is just perfect, it is about 15 min from the Central Station; but the people that is working there they dont know how to be friendly and they act soo hard. Also the owner must make nicer the place it looks soo old and I am sure it is always full.

We as a family spend some days in August in Walter's Rooms. That was the worst experience we've ever made.
The hostel is well located close to main train station in an area that has lots of asian stores.
However, the personell (inclusive Walter himself) was extremely unfriendly and rude.
As an advice, don't accept Walter's "cheap" pick up service from the Ciampino Airport! He asks for 70 EUR (50 EUR gets the driver). There are public transports (1,20 EUR) and private non-stop buses (4 EUR) and cars (25 EUR + 6 EUR every additional person).
My bed with my belongings were ransacked! Take valuables with you!
The one and only breakfast table for the thee 6 bed rooms offers space for 4 people only and is in the hallway to the rooms next to the reservation desk. You better get up at 7 to be able to take breakfast without sharing the small table with the other guests. The breakfast is very basic, the "nutella" is a self-refilled chocolate paste (not nutella) into a single nutella glass for all guests. I found it disgusting. However, the coffee machine is nice.
There is one free internet laptop. The rooms have ventilators. Next time I'd definitely choose another stay in rome!

These persons is very dangerouse to go around,is impossible to deal with,very aggressive people.The main problem is the car service : thay made me reserve a driver with a big car to wait for them there the airport at a regular price ,even cheaper comparing other car service or taxi,so after they landed they didn't want to pay the driver simply because they saw the pubblic service bus is more cheaper ; this is really psycho to be treated,even a baby can understand that a private car with driver is completely different thing,nothing to compare with pubblic bus service .After a need to argue to make aware all about the car service,it seemed they liked the accommodation were they stay.Now i see in this comment the complain for the room: again the cheap price they paid was for 4beds room,while they stay 6 persons,so thay had 2 extra beds for free,but fortunatly they
didn't complain at the moment of they stay,because it would had been necessary to argue again .Ragarding the breakfast ,these persons also lairs,all the food available is in a packet monodose as butter,jam,honey,plumcake,bread,cornflakes and croissant ,while the chocolate creme they mentioned is the staff food not properly included in the breakfast for the guests,but we give to the guests when they request it.Regarding the mentioned personal belongings were ransacked,this is very funny and fantastic,me or our staff no need to demage our job for only to steals the guests valuable things.My God,NEVER NEVER again nasty terrible people like these.

The hostel itself is fantastic. It has its own kitchen, washing machine, big rooms nice bathrooms. My complaints would only be the area. Although it is close to a lot of things, including Termini station, it is very dangerous walking around at night. I would definitely recommend staying here, but if you are a girl especially, i would strongly advise not to go out by yourself at night. It is very dangerous.

Awful place, not even a hostel. We arrived to address, have to call 'couse nobody answering ring. Two guys arrive, one said we will go another place and shout at me saying"it is written on rulez!" although i was not blaming but asking. We walked quite long time with baggages, open hundred doors and got a place with three rooms. Breakfast area, walls and environment is dirty, beds are really uncomfortable, we feel unhappy. İnternet and location are only good things. Very expensive for this service. Never go there!

Be careful with these people, the staff pretend to be nice, but they are not. They do not give you a receipt, unless you ask for that (remember that this shows how serious and reliable is a business), and even worse... they can change the terms of your contract as they want. I paid for staying at a 4 bed-room, but when I got to the place at the night they augmented two beds more to that room; clearly that is a violation to the contract terms, you pay more and you don't get the service you pay for. They got angry when I complained and ask for a reimbursement, they denied there was something wrong and they just gave 1 euro in return! I don't think this hostel is serious and I feel they take advantage of customers.

The room wasn't really clean, especially tha bathroom. The stuff also entered the room while we were away in order to do repair jobs. Breakfast was good.
